Pence: America will 'lead in space again' under Trump

Source: The Hill

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 10/05/17 09:43 AM EDT

Vice President Mike Pence penned an op-ed Wednesday vowing that the U.S. would "lead in space again" under the Trump administration.

In the piece published in The Wall Street Journal, Pence said that 60 years ago this week, the "Soviet Union launched the world's first satellite into orbit, changing the course of history."

"The race for space was on, and the Soviets had taken an early lead. But the sight of Sputnik blinking across the October sky spurred Americans to action," Pence, the chairman of the National Space Council, wrote.

"Twelve years later, with 'one giant leap for mankind,' the U.S. claimed its rightful place as the undisputed leader in the exploration of the heavens."But, Pence said, that "pre-eminence in outer space is now under threat." The vice president said the U.S. needs to act.

NASA's space program has been on the chopping block by Repubs for years. There are very few NASA employees at Kennedy Space Center. Most of the employees are from contract houses.

"Critical space hardware" after he was told not to touch it, yeah that's the kind of leadership we need to get back to space exploration.

It's just so far beyond reality these days, I've stopped shaking my head at the constant mind numbing stupidity of these bastards.

Maybe a class action lawsuit?

The World vs. Donald J. Trump

Plaintiffs allege chronic and ongoing physical injury due to defendants persistent and ongoing moronic behavior, thereby triggering automatic and very human responses including but not limited to: slapping of forehead, pounding head on desk, and constant shaking of head back and forth.

Plaintiff asks for: Monetary compensation for pain and suffering, dismissal of defendant from current position of authority, and banning of defendants words and images from all media for a period of 5 years.

And space exploration is in reality the most dangerous thing you can do for a living, one mistake or failure of a component and it's game over.

Can you imagine if these brain donors were NASA's administrators?, you know what would have happened to Apollo 13 if they'd been in Mission Control at the time?.

It would not have had a happy ending.

Abandon the poor for space, just like the movie Elysium.

It's either that, or try to fix climate change here, which we know won't happen.

It takes money, and plenty of it - exactly what he is planning to take away from the government with his tax cut.
