Feinstein mum on re-election bid: 'You are going to find out about that very shortly'

Source: The Hill

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) in an interview that aired Sunday declined to say whether she was going to run for re-election.

"You are going to find out about that very shortly," Feinstein said in an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press."

She was pressed on what she thinks of a recent poll that found 50 percent of California voters don't think Feinstein should run for reelection."Oh look. There are polls and then there are polls. I'm ready for a good fight," she said.

"I've got things to fight for. I'm in a position where I can be effective, and hopefully that means something to California."

Feinstein: 'America is a gun-happy country'

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 10/08/17 09:00 AM EDT

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said during an interview that aired Sunday that the U.S. is "gun-happy."

During an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press," Feinstein was asked about her call for legislation that would ban "bump stocks," a device that allows semi-automatic weapons to fire more rapidly.

"What does that say about the state of the gun debate that basically the best you thought you could do here is just to simply introduce a loophole closing?" host Chuck Todd asked.

"The state is sad. America is a gun-happy country," Feinstein said. "And I think there are many of us in growing numbers that don't want a gun-happy country."

Feinstein said guns have their place in the country, adding that she doesn't have a problem if they are used properly. "But what I have seen over the decades is a growth of substantial improper use of weapons," she added.

Obama was right--people who are bitter cling to their guns. I think it's because they have lost everything else--the freedom that having a good job and secure future brings, the freedom from want. Because now the good jobs and secure life are gone, they turn ever more desperately to an abstract concept that as long as they have unfettered freedom re guns, they remain free.
