The case for impeachment: New report meticulously details evidence that Trump obstructed justice

While special counsel Robert Mueller is still investigating President Donald Trump’s decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey, three legal experts think they already have enough evidence to charge the president with obstruction of justice, which was a key charge in the impeachment case against former President Richard Nixon.

In a new paper published by the Brookings Institute, authors Norm Eisen, Barry Berke and Noah Bookbinder make a detailed case that Trump did indeed fire Comey with the intention of thwarting the investigation into Russia’s interference with the 2016 presidential election.

Specifically, they note that Trump’s own public statements might give prosecutors all the ammunition they need to prove the president had a corrupt intention in his decision to fire Comey, whose bureau was taking a lead role in the Russia investigation.

“President Trump’s behavior is certainly suggestive of corrupt intent with respect to the Russia and Flynn investigations,” they write. “For example, President Trump has articulated multiple, shifting rationales for Comey’s firing. The first explanation for terminating Comey, as articulated by the president in a May 10 tweet and in the Rosenstein memo, was that Comey had mishandled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email, and had lost the confidence of his subordinates. Soon thereafter, President Trump reversed course and said… that the Russia investigation was on his mind when he made the decision to fire Comey.”

The report is 108 pages long and worth the read. They've done an impressive job making the case for obstruction of justice charges.

But when you have swamp wolves guarding and protecting all their swamp dwelling republiturds, it's hard to get any action for justice.

Actual justice can only come if we elect democrats up and down the ballot in 2018.

If the right-wingers are conceeding certain facts, it can only mean that they're worried that OTHER facts might come to light. This story must be even bigger than anyone knows yet. We must get all of the story out, and Mueller needs to keep digging.

Also the vote tampering and the integrity of our entire 50-state voting system is at stake.

if we keep calling for impeachment. Which, and I hate to tell y'all the GOP will NOT do. You could find video of Trump sucking Putin's cock and they still won't do it.

Sorry for the sex nightmares.

Every moment the DNC spends yammering about impeachments that will never happen is a moment we're not talking about how Trump made it easier for nursing home workers to lay the smack down on their grandparents, cut their Medicaid, dithering on CHIP, etc.

Isn't this giving 45''s legal team a big heads up and that many more arguments to counter Mueller? This just might be giving away Mueller''s entire game plan.

Y'know, the same people who are actively recruiting white supremacists, anti-semites, eugenicists (what do you think the purpose of Medicaid cuts are?) and people who actively believe that every mass shooting is staged as part of some conspiracy to take their guns away.

All Trump has to say is that he fired Comey because he wouldn't say publicly what he was telling Trump privately. That is a legit reason to fire him unfortunately.

Everyone has jumped on the fact that Trump said "because of Russia" in his interview, but he can easily clarify that and explain it away with Comey wouldn't communicate what he wanted him to communicate.
