Religious right notches gains under Trump

Source: The Hill

BY JONATHAN EASLEY - 10/10/17 06:00 AM EDT

President Trump’s administration is delivering for social conservatives, who are thrilled by the gains they’ve seen on their core issues of abortion and religious freedom.

Through court appointments, administrative staffing, executive orders and agency guidance, Trump’s presidency has been a triumph for the religious right.

“He was a wild card, for sure, but we feel completely vindicated,” said Penny Nance, president of Concerned Women for America. “Trump has been courageous in ways other Republicans, including George W. Bush, have never been. Who knew that a billionaire playboy from Manhattan would be the most pro-life president in history?”

Many social and religious conservatives view the last week as a watershed moment.

They know that they can't win in 2020 with just the white supremacist base. They need the evangelicals. As long as he keeps pleasing them this way they will ignore what a deplorable human he is and vote for him.

It could well work.

Most "pro-fetus" president in history. Least "Pro-Actual-Human-Being" president in history, if you count the number of people that will die because of bad health policy, bad environmental policy, and the wars he's itching to get us into.

Another phony x-tian. Jesus weeps.

We do not need the religious right gaining any more power. They've done enough damage to this country and they are continuing to get away with the horrors they've brought on this country.

Uh...that's because he is NOT "the most pro-life president in history". Its never been an issue for him before he decided to run for President. He is using you'all because he knows that evangelicals are the most susceptible to the Pavlovian response and will fall for anything. If they can convince themselves that a giant invisible old man in a beard is floating up there and that the USA is His favorite country in the whole world, they can be convinced of anything.

He needs no federal money to buy an abortion for someone, and he can fly her to any country if none are available here.

These laws and blocks to funding only affect women without means.
