Trump on Corker's World War III comment: 'We were on the wrong path before'

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 10/10/17 12:50 PM EDT

President Trump said Tuesday that the United States was “on the wrong path before” when asked about a remark from Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) that Trump’s threats against other nations put the U.S. “on the path to World War III.”

“We were on the wrong path before,” Trump told reporters, according to White House pool reports.

“All you have to do is have to take a look. If you look over the last 25 years, through numerous administrations, we were on the path to a very big problem, a problem like this world has never seen. We’re on the right path right now, believe me.”

The comment from Corker, which came from an interview with The New York Times, is part of an escalating feud between the senator and Trump that reached personal levels over the weekend.

Trump says Corker feud won’t hurt tax reform

BY JORDAN FABIAN - 10/10/17 12:48 PM EDT

President Trump on Tuesday denied his feud with Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) will endanger his effort to overhaul the nation’s tax system.

“I don’t think so. I don’t think so at all,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “I think we’re well on our way. The people of this country want tax cuts, they want lower taxes.”

That assessment is at odds with many Republicans in Washington, who worry the spat will stunt momentum behind tax reform.

Trump can only afford to lose two GOP senators on the tax bill and Corker has said he would not support a plan that blows a hole in the federal budget.

I expect a chaotic, more dangerous world because of his unstable stances.

He will if there is a way for him to be one of three no votes on any and all legislation pushed by Trump.

slights are no bases for a national foreign policy.

Every last vote. Lose a few here and there and it is all over. Yet he persists in picking fights with various members of Congress as if it doesn’t matter who he insults. It has been said that tRump does not learn from his mistakes and this is a classic example. Of course,
I want to see him fail to pass a single thing and his antics help guarantee that he will lose support. It just boggles the mind that anyone could continue to support him. It should be obvious now to anyone that he was all talk when it comes to making deals. He couldn’t bargain his way out of a wet paper bag!
