Trump hints at executive order on health care with 'power of the pen' tweet

President Donald Trump wrote online Tuesday morning that he plans to take unilateral steps to reform the nation’s healthcare system, hinting at signing an executive order without clarifying what that order might be.

“Since Congress can't get its act together on HealthCare, I will be using the power of the pen to give great HealthCare to many people – FAST,” Trump wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning.

The president did not immediately indicate what specific changes he plans to order to the nation’s healthcare system, although he has suggested in recent weeks that an executive order allowing Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines would be forthcoming. Clarity on a timeline for those changes, beyond that they will happen “fast,” was also not immediately offered by the president.

But the order is largely expected to target an expansion of association health plans -- or insurance sponsored by trade associations, community groups and other organizations. Those plans can be sold across state lines and would be exempt from Obamacare's essential benefit requirements.

President Trump on Tuesday repeated a false claim that the U.S. is the highest taxed nation in the world.

"The people of this country want tax cuts, they want lower taxes. We’re the highest taxed nation in the world," Trump said Tuesday, according to pool reports.

Trump's comments Tuesday came when he was asked about whether his dispute with Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) would affect the GOP's tax reform efforts.

Trump has made the same claim several times in the past.

at the WH Correspondents Dinner. That, and he's a straight up racist. Hence, he tries in everything he does to effectively erase Obama's legacy.

He's a grown toddler with access to nuclear weapons. This is why I hope Gen. Kelly does NOT resign. Some days he might be the only thing between us and the nuking of Pyongyang or Tehran or maybe Los Angeles.

That's probably the best general description of today's GOP. Although I have almost always disagreed with Republicans, there have not always been so many punks in their ranks. Now, as you said, they are a bunch of little punks who are in it to win at literally any cost. Punks.
