dumping retardant yet. Is it just the townships fire departments fighting this alone or will there ever be help given or sent to California?

The VLAT Boeing 747 Super-Tanker #944 was dumping Phos-Check in northern California. The 747 was contracted by CalFire, because the US government is still not using it. Lots of other aircraft working.

The three McDonnell Douglas DC-10s working the fires used to be the stars, but there's a new kid in town.

Those computed stabilized cameras are great

CalFire is on scene with their assets as well as the USFS along with teams from all over the state. There’s even assets from SoCal- ventura county has sent teams as well as Los Angeles County and LAFD.

If you’ve ever driven I5 or SR99 during fire season you’ll see the engine companies coming from all over the state to fight the fires. It’s always impressive and humbling.

Still have power and on the edge of a voluntary evacuation zone.

Amazing work being done. Scary as hell. half my friends and co-workers have lost their places or are evacuated.

some looting (seems very well organized), but the community is coming together like nothing ever before.

I live in Montana and we just went through an unprecedented fire season. Wildfires on all sides of us with one only a 1/4 mile from my home. Sadly, we lost two local young firefighters to the blazes. It's stressful and scary. I'm pulling for all of you and wishing for fall rain. Be well.

I've been unable to reach a good friend of my late mother. She's in her 80's and lives alone in Kenwood. I hope she's okay. Glad you have work to keep your mind occupied and helping others to boot!

and said, "Oh shit" since this will make existing fires worse and create new ones. The Santa Ana winds are brutal. Hot, windy and dry...perfect fire storm weather.
