Democrats demand border wall bill move through 'regular order'

Source: Politico

By HEATHER CAYGLE 10/13/2017 10:59 AM EDT

Democrats are demanding a GOP proposal to authorize a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico move through each committee with jurisdiction before the bill comes to the House floor for a vote.

Top Democrats on six committees that have oversight over parts of the legislation are asking that their panels all get to consider the bill before it moves to the House floor, saying that’s the only way to ensure “regular order.”

“We respectfully request that each committee mark up this legislation and be given an opportunity to thoroughly examine and discuss provisions within our purview,” they wrote to Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and chairmen of the six committees.

Ryan vowed a return to “regular order” when elected speaker in 2015 but has defied that promise a number of times, particularly on controversial legislation like the GOP’s Obamacare repeal plan and appropriations bills.

... that they will fully support his border wall - the minute Mexico coughs up the money to pay for it in full.

That's what he promised - so let's see the money.

When Dotard coughs up the money to pay for PR, TX, and FL then he can begin to think about his wall. Until then, he can shut up about it.

... which means it wouldn't affect the budget at all.

He campaigned on "Mexico will pay" - so show us the money.

(Obviously, that's never gonna happen - )

But the one thing we should be able to hold him to is how he handles disaster funding. He can always claim that Mexico is going to pay us back. Years from now this could still be a talking point about how Mexico owes us for the wall. You know as well as I do that the GOP are sneaky, slimy things that will worm their way out of obligations and place the blame on someone else. So, while I agree that he should be able to show off his deal making prowess and keep his campaign promise, I would rather use this occasion to point out how terribly he has handled the hurricane crises and where his priorities should be instead of his stupid wall.

The reason Dems should tell Trump they'll go along with the wall if Mexico pays for it is because they know it's never going to happen.

That leaves Idiot Boy holding the bag, trying to explain why he can't make good on one of his biggest campaign promises.

And no, claiming that Mexico will "reimburse us later" is NOT acceptable. He said he'd get Mexico to pay - so let's see him do it.

Now I get your plan.

But, but, but, so many 60lb bags of drugs are going to fall on unsuspecting Americans!

... could go a step further, and promise that once the fully-paid-for-by-Mexico wall is finished, they'll personally furnish the money for giant beach umbrellas on our side to protect Americans from the "fallout".

to build a wall around Yellowstone and make Dotard prezident of that instead. A super volcano for a super prezident!
