Folly Theater cancels controversial Yiannopoulos event
Source: KSHB
KANSAS CITY, Mo. The Folly Theater has decided to cancel an appearance from Milo Yiannopoulos, a controversial writer, over concerns about the "safety and security of employees and patrons."
Yiannopoulos, a former editor for Brietbart, was booked to speak at the Folly on Nov. 5 as part of his "Troll Academy Tour."
The event was announced Friday afternoon and then canceled Friday evening.
Yiannopoulos is used to this kind of controversy. An announcement that he would be speaking at the University of California at Berkley sparked violent protests last month and eventually the event was canceled.

This growing acceptance of white supremacists is disturbing. Hope Cincinnati finally gets some sense and cancels as well.
We've got one in the White House so the rest of them feel emboldened to come out of their holes.

(34,133 posts)I got an email from them but have house guests and did not get a response in before it was cancelled. We attend classical concerts there and often jazz concerts and other artists. They do more but it is a trip for us so we don't attend regularly. This seems unusual but I am very glad they did the right thing and did it quickly. I cannot imagine how this even happened.
The term"patron" is likely because they sell tickets to sessions of music, mostly high end classical and other arts. There is nothing elitist about it. Not sure why that came up but there is an explanation.

I think the latest event was more of a stunt, not really "organized" at all, and called off only because the "organizers" didn't actually organize-- or pay for-- it.
