Poll: Most Americans Think Their Own Group Faces Discrimination

Source: NPR

JOE NEEL

Majorities in many ethnic, identity and racial groups in America believe that discrimination exists against their own group, across many areas of people's daily lives, according to a poll from NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

The poll asked a wide range of questions about where Americans experience discrimination — from the workplace to the doctor's office — and people's perception of it. The groups polled include whites, blacks, Latinos, Asian-Americans, Native Americans and LGBTQ adults.

White Americans are among those who feel their group is discriminated against, with 55 percent saying discrimination exists against whites in the U.S. today.

These results are part of a large national statistically representative survey of 3,453 adults from Jan. 26 to Apr. 9.

we would know first hand our own experiences but not someone else's. Probably every group including the one in power would face some type of discrimination at some point. We all have our own biases and prejudices and it can be difficult to see things from another person's perspective when we haven't gone through it.

I've shared stories of discrimination from my career and many DUers don't understand it, don't believe it happens, or don't know it's a widespread problem. It can be frustrating.

Do NOT include me in that bunch.
There are plenty of people in Texas who face discrimination. I am not one of them.

From California.

I'm doing fine. Know lots of people of ALL races who are being screwed by the system.

The only color that really matters is green. If you got that you're good, if not, you're screwed.

But left when I was 16 to move to Spain (Catalunya, really). Have had a residence in Dallas since 1983, so I've been a Texan longer than I was a Virginian. I've been living in Germany for years now, anyway, and my wife doesn't want to leave Europe, so I'll be here for the foreseeable future.

I suspect because of RW radio/podcasts and Fox News, thereby creating a culture of victimisation.

Of wealth holders and wage/salary earners, we ALL truly are being discriminated against. We ALL are feeling the pressure of being fucked over by "someone". Non-white, non-male people have felt this pressure for a long time.

But we are ALL increasingly in the soup now. We look for convenient targets to blame, and those targets are the ones we have been trained quite carefully to attack, so that we never address the real cause of all of our misery.

We are ALL in this together. For lack of a better way to phrase it, we are ALL God's children. Don't let anyone ever make you think differently.

And racism has always been encouraged by the elite. They let the 99% fight over crumbs while they take 80% of the pie. Heaven forbid the have-nots of all cultures band together and go after the elites with pitchforks.

Next we'll hear that Christians think they're persecuted in Ame... wait. They always have.

I won't lose a friend by heeding God's call
For what is a friend who'd want you to fall
Others find pleasure in things I despise
I like the Christian life

My buddies shun me since I turned to Jesus
They say I'm missing a whole world of fun
I live without them and walk in the light
I like the Christian life

I won't lose a friend by heeding God's call
For what is a friend who'd want you to fall
Others find pleasure in things I despise
I like the Christian life

needs to grow the flip up. You're embarrassing normal well adjusted white people, who believe I got my little life due to work and some luck.

Luck, if you add that to your thinking it grounds you.
