Clinton campaign, DNC paid for research that led to Russia dossier

Source: The Washington Post

By Adam Entous, Devlin Barrett and Rosalind S. Helderman October 24 at 6:21 PM

The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about Donald Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin, people familiar with the matter said.

Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington firm, to conduct the research.

After that, Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community, according to the people.

Elias and his law firm, Perkins Coie, retained the firm in April 2016 on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Prior to that agreement, Fusion GPS’s research into Trump was funded by a still unknown Republican client during the GOP primary.

originally retained Fusion GPS to get opposition info on tRump. After Jeb dropped out of the running, Fusion GPS sold the info to the Clinton campaign.

That's odd. Maybe Jeb's name was said to be the one but never confirmed for certain.

However, Considering all that has been known about Trump & his financial ties to foreign organized crime dating back to the 90's, this doesnt surprise me at all.
There was intel on him & the DNC hacks, wikileaks, Foreign Intel from our allies, along with the odds in the Primary of trump beating out a number of major players who also have security knowledge & connections, it doesn't surprise me that a number of Flashing Red Lights were going off the moment Trump entered the Primary race.

Well thank the gods for which ever Republican began the process & for the DNC & Clinton Campaign for having the foresight to do what they did to bring about the Steele Dossier.

Without the S Dossier the US Govt would have ZERO chance of ever recovering.
Game over as of Nov 8, 2016.
We have been given the opportunity to save ourselves .
There are far bigger and more sinister things at play than we'll ever know.

Think I am a lot more grateful for that Republican, Jeb Bush or ?, and in all fairness, certainly much more solidly in support of the DNC & Clinton Campaign who stepped up to prepare the future defense against Trump/Putin & their International Organized Crime Syndicate.
The gift of Foresight is a necessary crime fighting tool.

Bless all those true American heros & patriots looking out for America, & hope their efforts result in busting up that cold callous, ruthless mofia.

The US wasn't their first successful takeover. Brexit & others were in their sights also.

Thank You

opponent's background, but it's a sensible move. Okay, it started with a Republican opposing Trump and continued with a Democrat opposing Trump.

What we need is investigation into why our intelligence services did not open an official investigation into Trump before the election. They all knew the Clinton investigation was a bogus political ploy, yet they didn't open a real investigation into the Republican candidate.

We already knew Bush started it, the someone on our side picked up the tab to continue. It was pretty obvious who would do that.

Money well spent, imo.

It was always assumed Jeb Bush initiated the Fusion GPS work on the dossier, since he was the one with money in the GOP primary. It was clear by April 2016 that Hillary would be the Dem nominee, so it was also assumed Hillary's campaign hired Fusion GPS after Jeb.

How is this all of a sudden a breathless headline?

Seems to me Nunes is talking to the Washington Post to gin up this non-news to justify his outrageous subpoenas for all of Fusion GPS' bank records, even ones relating to payments from clients who had nothing to do with the dossier.

The fact that they are trying to spin this on the Democrats show an absolute level of desperation that is both funny and disgusting. EVERY republican needs to be indicted, and capital punishment must be on the table for every Republican convicted. Pure and simple.
