Rose McGowan will open Women's Convention

Source: The Business Journal

Rose McGowan will replace Bernie Sanders as the opening night speaker at a national gathering of women this weekend.

The actress, who has gained national prominence in the wake of producer Harvey Weinstein's downfall over sexual harassment allegations, has been chosen to deliver the opening remarks at the inaugural Women's Convention in Detroit Friday.

Organizers of the Women's Convention made the announcement Wednesday, after what The Cut calls "strong backlash" from critics who said having a man open the convention sent the wrong message.

Sanders, the Vermont senator who ran for president in 2016, backed out of the convention last week, saying he would visit Puerto Rico instead, The Washington Post reports.

they replace a man with a long history of activism with a woman who's a grade B actress with a pretty face. That'll send a message, alright.

He considers Planned Parenthood and the Human Rights Campaign establishment. I guess that is because they did not support him. LOL. Considering that BS has been in Washington longer than the Clintons, and was involved in Vermont politics before that, I guess that makes him establishment, too. So he knows establishment when he sees it, hmmm?

Abortion is a wedge issue. It is perfectly all right to publish a magazine article about how women fantasize about rape? "Identity politics" is a phrase he and his followers have invented to dismiss POC and their very pressing concerns.

It is perfectly all right to support anti-abortion candidates?

Bernie' activism is questionable and spotty, IMHO.

Bernie backed out of the convention when he found out he was not going to be in the limelight. Now he is not going to Puerto Rico, either. He is going to Canada? Is he going to teach them about health care?

Can you answer any of the questions I have about Bernie's activism?

was not my point. If you notice, I didn't even use his name. I could not care less about Bernie. I am simply dismayed that when they decided to pick a female they went the Hollywood celebrity route instead of going for credibility.

Why not simply enlighten us with what this alleged sent message is that you infer with such absolutism.

Certainly, you will provide a most accurate interpretation of what is not said, and relay that to those of us less enlightened and encumbered by the weight of sacred cows...

The Bernie followers will pile on and split hairs over your choice of words. They will tell you that he was not the "keynote speaker."

Banana.
