Trump dump: president throws entire box of fish food into precious koi carp pond

Source: Guardian

While his host, Japan’s prime minister Shinzo Abe, spoons small amounts of feed, the US leader gives the fish a large feast
Justin McCurry in Tokyo
Monday 6 November 2017 01.17 EST

It was perhaps only a matter of time before Donald Trump’s brasher instincts smashed through the ring of decorum that had held fast on his gaffe-free first day in Japan.

The victims: the colourful, and much loved, koi carp of Akasaka palace in Tokyo.

After a breakfast meeting on Tuesday – the second day of his five-nation tour of Asia – Trump chastised his hosts for unfair trade practices before an audience of Japanese and US business leaders.

Then came a meeting with the imperial couple, with all the potential for a slip-up that holds. Trump nodded and smiled as he shook hands with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, but avoided the deep bow that landed Barack Obama in hot water during his first trip to Japan as president in 2009.

It would depend on the size and number of koi in that pond whether that was too much food, just right, or not enough.

I have a 1,000 gallon koi pond at the back of my home, and often when I'm rushed I'll just toss a handful of kibble to them. They don't seem to mind and they've lasted a long time (17 years or so by now). There's also a pond turtle in there to clean up what the fish miss.

Back to Trump. I'm hoping his Japanese hosts gave him only enough food to satisfy the fish's appetites, knowing that Trump was likely to just toss it all in at once. And the photo doesn't show the Emperor tossing any food to the fish, perhaps because Trump beat him to it.

What would have been more appropriate would have been to toss just a few bits to the fish at a time, so they could come to the side and be fed patiently, slowly, and admired. They are no doubt first rate koi (mine are more like C grade). They probably have longer memories than Trump, too.

Seriously, DUers!

It's a minor pet peeve of mine, but we need to start being as ruthless and media savvy as the Retrumplicans are, or we are going to continue having fucking fascists controlling our governmental power.

We should NEVER back down and say; "well, Trumpty-Dumpty didn't "really" kill all those fish".

We need to handle shit like this the same way ReTrumplicans handled the entire racist-ass "Obama's not a citizen" bullshit.

Instead of "being on the side of defending the shitstains actions", we should say stuff like;

- "as far as I know, shit-for-brains didn't kill all those fish"
- "shitgibbons said he didn't kill all those fish, but why is he not releasing his 'fish-feeding certificate'"
- "I take the orange sack of bile as his word that he didn't kill those fish....at least not 'intentionally'"
- "if it's so obvious, why doesn't he just release the fish-feeding course he attended"
- "of course, I'd NEVER accuse fuckwad of killing fish, but 'a lot of people are saying'"
- "I'm not accusing the asshat of anything, but 'many are saying' that the fish-feeding instructions may actually be a forgery, and I've yet to meet anyone who attended the course with the asshat"

See the difference? The ReTrumplicans NEVER "defend the other side", no matter how ridiculous or spurious the slander. They just put shit out there and make Dems waste their time refuting it.

We should do the same!

In this case, I'm saying; "did the dickhead kill a bunch of precious fish?", maybe, but maybe not 'intentionally'".

EDITED TO ADD: BTW - THIS TACTIC IS HOW WE END UP WITH 11 CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES INVESTING A NON-STORY LIKE BENGHAZI. N-E-V-E-R D-E-F-E-N-D R-E-T-R-U-M-P-L-I-C-A-N-S!!! EVER!

You need to check on the facts before trying to attack others.

And the facts are that:

TRUMP DID NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WAY HE FED THOSE FISH.

Watch the full video. Japanese Prime minister dumped his box of fish food into the pond BEFORE Trump dumped his.

It was a huge outdoor pond with many large koi. They were in no danger of being over fed.

Try to focus on real wrong doing by Trump, instead of fake outrage at stuff of no consequence!!!

I want to focus on anything that even remotely damages Donnie Short Fingers and the ReTrumplican Party.

If it's proven false...it's not "my job" to "correct the record", just like it wasn't Boehner's, or Ryan's or Cruz', or Rubio's, or any other asshatted ReTrumplican's job to "correct the record" on the hundreds, if not thousands of bullshit attacks against Obama, Clinton and Democrats in general.

Let "them" waste their fucking time and energy refuting this, just like they made Democrats do.

This is fucking WAR. They've understood that and treated us like the enemy for decades. It's past time we do the same. I hate what that says about our country, but I hate that less than what they are actually "doing" to our country.

No apologies! No Regrets! We attack and attack and attack relentlessly and without equivocation. Every second spent "correcting the record" for these pricks, is a second wasted.

We can be nice AFTER we rescue our government from these fucking racist, white supremacist Nazis in Brooks Brothers clothes.

Until then, every scandal...every gaff...every misstep needs to be exploited.

I don't think the way Dems win is to tell a bunch of people that they're fucking stupid!

I mean, that may be true and they may have been conned, but you don't tell them that.

What you do is "win by any legal means necessary to take back the reigns of our government from fascists"...and then...you do stuff that will actually improve their lives.

- You tax the ever loving fuck out of folks like Donnie Short Fingers (I mean 90% range, with the only way to avoid that percent is to put those profits back into wages, R&D or expansion)

- Appoint justices that will strike down these "right to work for peanuts" laws and rule to strengthen Unions and Collective Bargaining.

- Appoint Justices to overturn that idiotic Citizens United ruling and get the 1% money out of politics.

- Return the tax rate on the top 1% to what it was under President Kennedy, and roll that money into the largest infrastructure program the world has seen.

- Medicare for ALL

- Offer the GI Bill to every graduating High School student, include trade and skill development for all that don't want to attend college (they have to register for the draft anyway, let them benefit from the GI Bill)

If I have to say Orange Colored Dickweed killed a few fish to obtain stuff like that, I'm sorry, but not only would I do that, I'd swear the fucker not only killed them, but also that he ate their babies raw!!!

Let the Retrumplicans defend him....it's not OUR job!

The proper etiquette is to feed small amounts and ask questions about each of the primary fish. They will show you who the alphas are if you simply watch. Tossing in all the food at once shows how short your attention span is.

Our pond is bigger, (60k) and we have fostered a number of koi from other ponds in addition to our own beloved families. They are such fascinating creatures, very much individuals. I am in Japan 4-5 times a year for business, so I get to see more Japanese culture than most.

Even though it sounds trivial, I think the issue of whether he's ever had a pet (or wanted one, or at least likes cats or dogs or fish or gerbils if he couldn't have one), or was a birdwatcher or ANYTHING should have come up during the debates. How people treat animals is actually really illuminating. He seems like someone who has absolutely no regard for animals at all.
