Trump slams former US intel leaders as 'political hacks'
Source: The Hill
President Trump on Saturday lashed out at U.S. intelligence leaders for their conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, calling them political hacks and slamming the investigations into Russian interference as a Democratic hit job.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump blasted former U.S. intelligence officials by name, including former CIA director John Brennan, former director of national intelligence James Clapper and former FBI Director James Comey.
"I mean, give me a break, they are political hacks," Trump said, according to CNN. He was discussing the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion that Russia sought to influence the 2016 election in favor of Trump. "So you look at it, I mean, you have Brennan, you have Clapper and you have Comey," he continued. "Comey is proven now to be a liar and he is proven now to be a leaker.
So you look at that and you have President Putin very strongly, vehemently says he had nothing to do with them," he continued, referring to the Russian president.

(59,504 posts)I wonder what the reaction of Congressmen and Senators is to Trump calling people who are not political .. and might actually be Republican leaning .. political hacks.
What is clear is that Trump just wants the investigation to end with a declaration that nothing happened. At this point, he is clearly hoping that the US public opinion moves to believe that.

(9,350 posts)There is no longer a need to rely on intelligence officials to determine whether or not Russia interfered in the 2016 election. We are not getting proof from Facebook, Twitter, and other groups. We are finding out that either Russian individuals, or the Russian government paid at least hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to by false ads. We are learning that a number of events that were meant to divide the country in the lead up to the 2016 election were paid for by Russians.
At this point anyone can say forget what the intelligence officials are saying just look at what Facebook and Twitter are saying. Clearly there were people in Russia who wanted Donald Trump to win the election. It is getting to the point where the more Trump denies Russian interference the more he looks like he was well aware that his campaign was colluding with the Russian government. It is getting to the point that you cannot deny that the Russians tried to influence the election in Trump's favor.
It seems that at the least James Clapper and the intelligence community have been vindicated by the new evidence that has come out. We can now see just how much effort Russians put into getting Donald Trump elected. If there was no collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign why does Trump keep denying that there was Russian interference in the election. Is it that he is trying to protect his ego? Is it that he knows that his campaign colluded with the Russian government in an effort to get him elected. Did he, his kids, and/or his campaign staff offer something to Vladimir Putin in order to get help from the Russian government? Is Trump trying to keep his collusion from coming out?

(23,105 posts)Of course he was totally part of the collusion effort, that's why he stands so steadfastly by his man. Russia promised him something over and above the presidency and all the opportunities for grifting there. Don't know if it was cancellation of hundreds of millions of debt or what, but it's something big or drumpf wouldn't act this way. Everything he does is for personal profit and ego advancement, every single little thing, including golfing! Yes, he's a fucking lazy orange fatass, but it's because he makes $$ off the taxpayers and he just loves hurting others, he gets off on it.
Fixed the wording to flow better.
