Trump predicts unemployment rate below 4 percent

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 11/20/17 07:34 AM EST

President Trump on Monday predicted that the unemployment rate will dip below 4 percent during his tenure.

“Under President Trump unemployment rate will drop below 4%,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Trump often writes optimistic comments about the economy. He also often railed against the economy under former President Barack Obama during his 2016 presidential campaign. Trump’s Monday morning tweet comes after the House last week passed a tax reform bill that includes slashes to the corporate rate.

The Senate is currently working on its own version of tax reform legislation that, unlike the House bill, delays the cut to the corporate rate.

Any news outlet that doesn't agree with that is "Fake news" outlet. And the rate dropping steadily under Obama has nothing to do with that.

First he'll have Sessions and his sycophants in Congress change laws and sentencing guidelines to jail more and more young ethnic males (especially) and then take away the ACA to kill more poor people sooner and take away Medicare and Social Security to speed early deaths - leaving fewer but better Americans in his eyes.

If this Tax Bill passes the senate we will all be celebrating Thanksgiving next year together... on bread lines.
The unemployment "numbers" will be whatever the emperor decrees.

BTW, that "Not In Labor Force" number that Trump trumpeted during the campaign as evidence of the "terrible economy" is up 1.019 million since the inaugural month of January ... now at 95.4 million.

U.S. has record 6 million job openings, even as 6.8 million Americans are looking for jobs

If there are that many job openings compared to people looking for jobs doesn't that suggest there is a different problem that needs to be addressed?

From the article:

"What the numbers illustrate is one of the key problems that has plagued the U.S. labor market in recent years. Job seekers tend to lack the skills in demand, they're not willing to move to jobs that are available, or employers have unrealistic expectations."

I would add 1 more reason. Once a person hits 50 or so, and has 20+ years experience, they often have a hard time getting hired. Employers are unwilling to pay for that experience and even if an experienced worker is willing to take a pay cut, the employers feel that they will lose that experienced employee as soon as they find something better. Since health insurance premiums are higher for those over 50 that is rolled into the cost of the employee as well. Of course it's even worse for people over 60.

14. Why does he refer to himself in the third person?

It's not even, "under the Trump administration." He makes it sound like it is he and he alone who is responsible for whatever good news happens (and Hillary and Obama are to blame for any bad things).

In this case he's taking credit for something that hasn't happened yet! What if unemployment doesn't fall below his prediction? Will he take responsibility for that?

What does that show about his mental state?
