Durbin: Republicans hate CFPB 'like the devil hates holy water'

Source: The Hill

Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said Sunday that Republicans hate the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) “like the devil hates holy water.”

“It’s a watchdog agency,” he said, referring to the CFPB.

“Wall street hates it like the devil hates holy water. And they’re trying to put an end to it with Mr. Mulvaney stepping into Cordray’s spot,” Durbin added, referencing White House budget chief Mick Mulvaney and former CFPD director Richard Cordray.

The Trump administration has argued it is legally allowed to appoint a new head to the bureau now that Cordray has stepped down from his post, while the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act stipulates that the deputy director is to head the bureau if it does not have a permanent director.

the agency was set up that has to have an appointment, and the former director has the right to assign someone to take his place, until the right wing worthless senate confirms your narcissistic psychopathic right wing choice, like your dip sh*t leading the CBO, who is just as dangerous as you are, after all he is also narcissist

So in essence FU and the horse you ride on everyday, its called the rule of law, not sexual predator law, that your ego thrives to achieve

This is just another example a page out of the Republican playbook to pander and help the rich while screwing over the rest of the country. The mesmerized Fox news watchers who's parents are most likely siblings can't come up for air to learn what is actually going on. I should know because I live in West Virginia where the gun clutching rednecks and those who follow and serve coal mine executives like rats following the pied piper, what more could you ask for, work with your life on the line everyday and then retire and die at a young age from black lung. The minds of these people and those like them nationwide are the fertile fields for Republican propaganda. They have been told how awful things have been under the smart black president and how much better it will be when the rich get richer at their expense. Senators and congressmen on both sides are letting us down by their silence and fear of losing campaign contributions. There are not any prioritization, the environment, good livable wages for all, education for every child, etc. Citizens it seems to me have take on the attitude that if it doesn't affect me, I don't care. We had to put Bill Clinton's blow job under the microscope but couldn't look back at the horrible farce of the Iraq War. It is time to wake up and be heard, with the voices of the rational uniting and drowning out the bullshit phony promises of the Republicans. It is time to act now and not in the future looking back and saying "Why didn't we do something?" after suffering horrible consequences for not doing the right thing.

You are right that complacency can kill us, and it will with a slow death from worsening environmental and workplace safety conditions as well as a death by a thousand cuts from a royal economic screwing. The Repugs (and Russians) know Americans have short attention spans and little interest in history, government or civics. The blowback from the Iraq war will be with us and the Middle East for a century or more, and no one seems to give a damn.

Now, we have a war within to fight.

And, welcome to DU!

ungrateful criminals in 2009 and they have been making record profits ever since. The DJI average does not lie.

Once again it is about how corruption is destroying democracy by the open and secret bribery of politicians.
