Nancy Pelosi Says John Conyers Entitled to 'Due Process' in Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Source: Mediate

by Alberto Luperon | 10:56 am, November 26th, 2017

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan) is “entitled to due process” in the wake of recently revealed sexual harassment allegations.

“We are strengthened by due process,” Pelosi said on Meet the Press. “Just because someone is accused – and was it one accusation? Is it two?”

Conyers, who has served in Congress since the 1960s, has been embattled since a BuzzFeed report this week. It revealed that in 2015, he reached a taxpayer-funded settlement in a female staffer’s sexual harassment claim. The alleged victim said he fired her because she turned down his sexual advances. He denied wrongdoing when news of the settlement popped up.

“My office resolved the allegations — with an express denial of liability — in order to save all involved from the rigors of protracted litigation,” he said in a statement. “That should not be lost in the narrative.”

This does not sound like rolling over..

https://www.rawstory.com/2017/11/nancy-pelosi-refuses-to-let-chuck-todd-end-interview-after-he-railroads-her-with-sexual-misconduct-questions/

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called out NBC host Chuck Todd on Sunday for spending an entire interview on years-old sexual harassment allegations against Democrats without a single question about a Republican plan that would raise taxes on much of the middle class.

Throughout the 10-minute interview, Todd pelted Pelosi with questions about sexual misconduct allegations against Democratic figures like former President Bill Clinton, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI).

“I am here to talk about something also transformative in our society,” Pelosi said after eight minutes of questions. “And that is this tax bill that Republicans have put forth.” “Unfortunately, for time, I have to end it there,” Todd said, attempting to conclude the interview.

But Pelosi refused to let him move on to the next guest. “You mean we’re not even going to talk about taxes!” Pelosi exclaimed. “See, you have fallen into the place where they are doing something that’s going to increase the debt enormously.” Todd tried to interrupt Pelosi but she continued: “It’s going to be a job killer and it’s going to raise taxes on the middle class. And that has an impact on the individual time of all Americans. And really, we should be spending more time on that.”

She should have done that when she began repeating herself at about minute 5 or 6. She addressed the issue thoroughly but she let him control the entire interview and run out the clock. I was screaming at her to tell him she's done discussing this issue and will now focus on the tax bill.

Toad was rolling in shit and Speaker Pelosi allowed him to drag her in. I know she's better than that and is more than capable of making Toadd submit like the spineless blob of crap he is.

the accusations against Conyers and evidence supporting them is NOT rolling over.

To assume that professionals are as ignorant and incompetent as oneself is to be, well, trumpian. As someone pointed out, Trump doesn't know what it is to know something.

community will see that as railroading a strong Black icon in the House, and the Democratic Party will suffer in 2018--just like the Republicans hope and pray would be the case (in addition to getting the spotlight off their pedo-candidate in AL).

Unless and until there's hard evidence, Dems need to slow down with booting Democrats out. In the case of Weiner, it was justified, but we must remember, we DID lose that seat to a Republican.

We can't afford to lose more if we want to stop tRUmp's disastrous warpath and tax cuts for the rich to the detriment of working Americans.

Sometimes you have to make a hard decision, and take a stand. This appease everyone bullshit it not going to win us back the government when there's no appreciable difference between Democrats and Republicans.

All of our rights apply to all of our citizens, good or bad, guilty or not. I don't care for exceptions because one day it could be any one of us that is denied due process.

But Harvey Weinstein, Charlie Rose, and Kevin Spacey have all lost their jobs and will never work again. Why can't the same apply to Moore and Trump?

A company (in most states) can fire anyone for almost any reason. I would say it is up to the people and their elected representatives to decide the fate of Moore and Trump.

In case of Trump, he got elected. In case of Moore, he is presumably about to be elected.

So yes the rules are different.
Do you think Reagan would have gotten away with having sex with a 23 year old intern in the Oval Office? Thankfully the press gives us a pass in most of these situations.
Conyers isn't going anywhere, we need him right where he is.

offices, depending on what issues they are working on that might call for late night work. Also, at least one white Congressman actually stays in his office while Congress is in session because of the high cost of living in DC. This could be the explanation as to why he showed up in his PJs for a brief work appointment. Underwear is a somewhat different story. There is more to these stories than we are being told and yes, due process should be afforded every man being accused.

I like facts and evidence.
