Then, you have all of those well heads in the Muddy Gap area, doing exactly what, nothing, except giving tax breaks to the oil company because they are either one, idle, or two they only produce so much oil off a selcet few wells, to give a tax break for the oil company, saying the area is still producing, just to get the tax break, for both.

Then, lets get into ranching, you, asshole and your ranchers get leases from the BLM to put a fucking cow on the range , and they get a tax break using the BLM land to ranch, that we taxpayers help maintain, while we get nothing except the ranchers whining about Bison (Tanaka) having some disease, that's the ticket blame the species that helped the people of the region as being the problem for greed.

So that's why there aren't million of the native species running around there, and the simple fact that your racist cowboys eviscerated the species, for sport and whatever they wanted to do to the mammal, while at the same time damn near wiping the Indigenous people in that region, and then putting them (Cheyenne, Arapaho, for example) on the Wind River Reservation to make them feel good, while not giving them any money from the oil rigs, the coal strip mining---------------------------FUCK YOU Asshole.

... but yeah, I agree with everything except the number. Reagan was elected in 1980, so it's been maybe 37 or 38 years. That's when the GOP was taken over by pod people.

There's been a lot of talk about Nixon and Watergate lately on DU (and rightly so) but that was done by a relatively small group. In the early 70's there still Republicans who were patriotic, good citizens, and country-before-party. I grew up in the Midwest and my parents and grandparents were proud Republicans. For many years I remained inpedendent because I used to think there might be a time that I might want to vote for a Republican.

I came of age in 1972, voted Dem for the first time, and I have to tell you that I've never voted for a Republican for any major office. I finally realized that I never will vote for a Republican ever, and I joined the Democratic Party in 2008 because I wanted to support Hillary in the primary. I'm glad I did, because the reality is that the GOP is evil.

However I'm old enough to remember Eisenhower who was (mostly) a good president, and I grew up in the 50's & 60's when it was still respectable to call oneself a Republican. There's no self-respect left among those people though.

Ailes, Stone, and Buchanan got their start in that administration, and have been poisoning our political dialog ever since. (Well, at least Ailes is gone, but his legacy lives on.)

Nixon selected a VP so corrupt he was taking kickbacks from Maryland developers in his official office.

Decent Republican politicians became a dying breed after Nixon took office, and were virtually eliminated by the time Reagan won the election after interfering with Iran hostage negotiations.
