Maine GOP senator says Roy Moore was never fit for US Senate

Source: Associated Press

Updated 1:11 pm, Sunday, December 10, 2017

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine's Republican U.S. senator said on Sunday that Alabama politician Roy Moore was unfit to serve in the Senate even before sexual-misconduct allegations against him came to light.

Sen. Susan Collins made the comments on CBS' "Face the Nation." She called the Republican National Committee's decision to support Moore in the Alabama race "a mistake."

Collins said she thought Moore was a poor choice for Senate because of his views on Muslims and gays even before she learned of the misconduct allegations. She also said she's troubled that Moore has been removed from the Alabama Supreme Court twice for failure to "follow lawful judicial orders."

If Alabama loves his views on Muslims and gays, do other senators have the right to decide that he doesn't belong?

Some things are not a matter of opinion.

The First Amendment is one of those "things."

But apparently Alabama is getting ready to elect him. So that is who they want to represent them.

We'd be better off without that state.

Sort of joking, but not entirely. It isn't funny.

We have sunk to this point? Alabama has sunk to this point?

How is this possible?

His comment about when America was great was an abomination!

Indiana was hit hard after then-Governor Mike Pence signed that "my religion trumps your rights" bill into law. The state lost hundreds of million dollars in convention and event booking business. And THAT will show you true "trickle-down." When those conventions don't come to town as expected, the hotels don't fill up, the workers in those hotels and their restaurants and lobby shops get laid off, the lunch counters, boutiques and other small businesses around those hotels, and taxi and Uber and other freelance ALL services lose a valuable customer base. TONS of business blowback. That's why Mike Pence could be the luckiest SOB in politics. He would NOT have been reelected as governor after signing that miserable law that hurt business in his state. Instead he gets airlifted into the Vice Presidency and his career, then on life support, is rescued and dramatically resuscitated.

Just the defense Department part is 17 billion dollars. This doesn't include other federal money programs such as medicaid, medicare, food stamps, other government largess such as NASA programs. the area around Huntsville is the mainmissile headquarters for R&D. A lot of these jobs were moved out of Democraticv states during the Reagan years to award the Republican voters and politicians. Just north of me a defense plant was torn down last year that used to employ 7000 workers. Another nearby one that employed thousands was closed down about 20 years ago. That is why the fascist bastard,er I mean conservatives are always big for defense. normal companies want to go there, but the pentagon will do the Pols bidding. Too bad the dems never learned to play hardball. Still playing kitten ball with the thugs.
