Source: WKYT
MOUNT WASHINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Representative Dan Johnson, who was under investigation for alleged sexual molestation, has committed suicide, according to a report from WDRB in Louisville.
Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell said Johnson killed himself on a bridge on Greenwell Ford Road in Mt. Washington, and the gun was recovered.
On Tuesday, Johnson said that he had no intention of resigning his seat.

According to court documents obtained by the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, the alleged molestation took place on New Year's Eve in 2012. The alleged victim, who was 17 at the time, told authorities that she was staying in a living area of the Heart of Fire City Church where Johnson was pastor, when Johnson, who had been drinking a lot, approached her, kissed her and fondled her under her clothes.

(55,445 posts)Time and again, hes told this story with himself in the lead role.
Looking out a hotel window, he watched the second plane crash into the World Trade Center. He raced to Ground Zero. He pulled a body from the outstretched arms of first responders. He set up a morgue right there, right near the rubble. And for two weeks two heinous weeks the Pope gave last rites for all of those pulled from the towers.
But Storm Swain, a Philadelphia theology professor who wrote a book about chaplains at Ground Zero, has never heard of Johnson. She said its highly unlikely that any civilian, let alone an out-of-town clergyman, would have been asked to or would have been able to set up a morgue in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.
And a spokeswoman for New York Citys medical examiners office said she checked with several colleagues who were at the scene. No one remembers Danny Ray Johnson. Johnson has photos, which he shares all the time, and which appear to show that he was in New York around the time of 9/11. They include shots of him with luminaries such as then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Records show Johnson collects workers' compensation from the state of New York. But theres no credible evidence of Johnson ever living or working in New York for any length of time. So, his workers' comp benefits are almost certainly tied to 9/11.

If that wasn't enough, he also said he was in L.A. during the '92 riots and performed certified miracles in South America... He's like a modern-day Forrest Gump

(6,395 posts)The whole idea of suicide = automatic trip to hell....is a Catholic/Orthodox construct. The Bible has a number of notable hero's who committed suicide, Samson, Maccabees, etc. When Saul fell on his sword, it was considered an honorable way to go, rather than be captured and forced to break laws against God.
In the New Testament, you could say Apostle Paul falls a bit into this category. He was warned not to visit Jerusalem...and did it anyway. If you hold the account of Peter fleeing Rome true, then, he went back knowing full well he would be killed.
The idea of suicide = one way ticket to hell was a man made new "unforgivable sin". Reason being, one, it started going around that Judas, who betrayed Christ could have actually been forgiven, particularly, since none of the Apostles are on record, far as we know, of condemning him. Two, if enough people believed it, and ran afoul of the the church and started torturing for info, suicide wasn't an out for them. So, corrupt church leadership enacted the whole "philosophy" despite some seriously questionable backing.

(55,445 posts)or in other words, the most "republican" dude I've ever seen:
The Popes Long Con also detailed how the Bullitt County lawmaker exaggerated or lied about his resume, including heroics on 9/11 and his supposed service as a White House chaplain. Further, Johnson was indicted in the attempted arson of his car and was a suspect in the arson of his church, the report noted.
From the pulpit on Tuesday, Johnson noted that KyCIR reporters interviewed family members and church members, and complained that the story spanned the course of his whole life.
Johnson was asked if he had ever paid anyone to commit arson. His response: No, I have not. But according to Jefferson County Police records, Johnson was arrested in October 1985 for his role in a plot to burn up his car so he could collect insurance money.
The records show that after filing a stolen vehicle report, Johnson admitted paying a woman to help him get rid of the car. Johnson owed more than $10,000 on it. Less than two months after his arrest, Johnson was indicted for complicity to commit arson and falsely telling police that he didnt know what had happened to the car. He pleaded not guilty and the charges were dismissed in February 1987 after he completed a six-month pretrial diversion program.

It is telling about Republicans that they are rarely labeled as such (example: Bob Smith R-KY.)
Several Republicans ran for the special state house election in GA and never listed their party on mailings that I received or on yard signs or on any other campaign information.
When posting, please add the party affiliation to your post.

(45,454 posts)Johnson entered, drunk and stumbling, so the victim helped him navigate the stairs. She thought he was putting his arm around her for balance. Until his hand allegedly slipped up her shirt, KyCIR reported.
The victim then woke up later that night on the sofa. She found Johnson kneeling above her. She told KyCIR that he kissed her forehead and then slipped his hands up her shirt and bra. The report said he groped her, stuck his tongue in her mouth and put his fingers in her vagina. She begged him to stop and tried to force the man, who weighed twice as much as she did, off her without waking Johnsons daughter, KyCIR reported.
He told her shed like it. She said no, she didnt. She pleaded with him: go away, go away, KyCIR reported. He eventually did.

Rep. Dan Johnson, 57, was found dead Wednesday evening beside his automobile on a bridge over the Salt River in Mt. Washington. Authorities had been searching for him since a post on his Facebook page since removed that appeared to be a suicide note. In the post he wrote that "The accusations from NPR are false," adding that America "will not survive this type of judge and jury fake news [sic]."
NPR neither investigated the story nor aired or published it, but the accusations of sexual assault were part of an unflattering profile of Johnson published Monday by Louisville Public Media's Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting (KyCIR).

The Bullitt County Republican began his news conference singing church music. Standing silently in the sanctuary, behind the row of cameras, were two men who we later confirmed were LMPD officers.
Although they would not say why they were standing in the sanctuary, one took notes on paper and had a handheld recorder.
Allegations in the KY CIR story brought a wave of calls for the preacher turned lawmaker to step down. But Dan Johnson says the only place he's going is back to work in Frankfort.

(404 posts)This district was won by the molester by less than one point to a more excellent candidate, Linda Belcher. Remember, Republican Dan Johnson is the white supremacist son of a bitch who posted messages on Facebook that displayed prejudice toward black people, Muslims and others during his campaign for a seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives. He talked of white pride and Southern secession; he shared at least three pictures showing President Obama as an ape. He also aired videos in which he accused his opponent, Democratic Rep. Linda Belcher, of murdering 80,000 babies during their last election.
This seat should, and must, go to a progressive. But damn it, this feels GREAT!! Keeping Hell warm until Moore and Trump join him in eternal punishment.

Johnson, 57, was elected to the state legislature in 2016, part of a wave of Republican victories that gave the GOP control of the Kentucky house of representatives for the first time in nearly 100 years. He won his election despite Republican leaders urging him to drop out of the race after racist Facebook posts he made came to light. One compared Barack and Michelle Obama to monkeys.
The pastor of Heart of Fire church in Louisville, Johnson sponsored a number of bills having to do with religious liberty and teaching the Bible in public schools. But he was mostly out of the spotlight until Monday, when the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting published an account from a woman saying Johnson sexually assaulted her in the basement of his home in 2013.
At the time, the woman told police about the incident, who investigated but closed the case and did not file charges.

Kentucky lawmaker Dan Johnson fatally shot himself Wednesday, two days after allegations surfaced that he had molested a member of his church when she was 17 years old, officials said.
Bullitt County Coroner Dave Billings said Johnson a Republican state representative and self-proclaimed Pope of his Louisville church died of a penetrating gunshot wound to the head.
The lawmakers body was found Wednesday night near a bridge on Greenwell Ford Road in Mount Washington, Ky., in a spot called the River Bottoms. Johnson had suffered a single gunshot wound to his head, and a gun was recovered at the scene, Bullitt County Sheriffs Lt. Scotty McGaha said.
Officials found Johnsons body after responding to a report about a concerning Facebook statement and tracked the lawmakers phone to his location, Billings said.
