Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) on Thursday joined a growing group of Democratic senators calling for President Trump to step down amid resurfaced allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
Harris first told Politico's David Siders that she believed Trump resigning due to sexual harassment allegations would be "in the best interest of the country."
The California Democrat joins six other senators who have called for Trump to step down from his post: Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).
The accusations against the president have garnered renewed attention in recent weeks as women across the country have come forward to accuse powerful men in various industries of sexual misconduct.
