Trump Pushes to End Russia Inquiry

Source: LA Times

The White House and Republican lawmakers are pressing for an end to multiple investigations into the Trump campaign’s dealings with Russia, aiming to clear the president as soon as possible before the taint of scandal further damages his presidency.

President Trump expects to be publicly absolved of any wrongdoing by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III by year’s end or soon after, and several people around him say the often-impulsive president could erupt in anger if that unlikely timeline is not met.

Some associates believe, or hope, that Trump will fire his three lawyers if he is not exonerated, opening the door for a more combative approach to the Mueller investigation that he sees as an affront to his legitimacy.

Republicans leading House and Senate probes are pressing for a rapid conclusion to their own investigations of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election. Doing so would reinforce Trump’s argument that links between his team and Russian intelligence have been over-hyped by the media and his political opponents.

the consequences of what Mueller could uncover are pretty difficult to digest. so people will naturally want to assume the converse with business-as-usual.

The more the Mueller investigation finds, the less interested Republicans are in finding out what the truth is.

IMHO: If not shut down, the special counsel will find conclusive evidence damning to the a-hole in the white house.
With his own survival at stake, a-hole will shut down Mueller.

I think Russian involvement in our gov't is deeper than suspected by most of us and will touch the r' party.

he might be taking some extra time to collect evidence on a wide swath of the Republican party

at this point time is running out, Mueller needs to pump out some interesting indictments or the GOP agitprop machine will bury him

It was brilliant! She hosted a panel of four former US attorneys/prosecutors. One of the questions she asked them is - What happens if Mueller is fired? They said that the investigation will continue, with or without Mueller. All of his findings and documentation are still there and it won't be easy for The Dotard or the Repugs to stop it. Besides Eric Schneiderman in New York has all the same info and he can pursue state charges. I'm not ready to give up yet.

It's not going to work, though. Trump-Russia is too big, too massive.

The worst thing RepubliCons could do is shut down their investigations and/or absolve the Trump gang. Democrats (if they are active and efficient) can increase the toxicity levels for 2018 so that the RepubliCons are in a lose-lose-maybe_so_so triple bind: Lose if they clear tRump, lose if they don't impeach him, maybe do so-so if they do impeach / 25th him. And Pence too, while they are at it.

Trump-Russia is proof by example of why the larger the conspiracy the harder it is to hide it. Something that 9-11 "truthers" need to be reminded of.

But the Cover-up conspiracy between the WH and Nunes and Fox "News" seeks to discredit Mueller.

So the Trumpster WH are hoping they can get a double-whammy knockout punch: 1) RepubliCONgress absolution and "complete" discrediting of Mueller as staging a "coup", then they fire him and anyone who dares appoint a successor.

But it won't work. At the very least, the Democratic members will issue a dissenting report. The free media will second it and cement it with leaks of facts and information from the Intelligence Community and foreign Intelligence services.

And all the ones helping him will be charged with conspiracy and obstruction. Oh well, its there own hole they're digging. This train wreck, and karma, is getting closer and closer to an ending , and everything trump accused Hillary of doing is coming true, for what he's done and been involved in. The puppets reign of terror may be over very soon. His accomplices will regret what they've done, and we'll hear him claiming he's the victim, but remember how brutal, and evil he's been at his sentencing hearing. Karma will be his nightmare, and justice and the truth is his worst enemy. No matter who he fires, he'll have the truth knocking on his door, and he can't fight it off forever. The American people have awakened , and are breathing down his and his accomplices necks now, and there's nothing they can do to stop that , we know what you did.
