Trump: GOP tax bill 'essentially' repeals ObamaCare

Source: The Hill

BY JORDAN FABIAN - 12/20/17 12:27 PM EST

President Trump on Wednesday claimed the Republican tax plan “essentially” repeals former President Obama’s signature health-care law.

“When the individual mandate is being repealed, that means ObamaCare is being repealed,” Trump said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House. “We have essentially repealed ObamaCare and we will come up with something much better.”

The GOP tax overhaul gets rid of the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate, which requires almost all Americans to purchase health insurance or pay a fine.

Trump said he refrained from playing up that measure because he was worried about how the news media would report it, but added “now that it’s approved, I can say that.”

You just shoved us, middle class, elderly citizens under the bus....the young who don't need health ins now (although they will at some point...) will drop out. The risk pool will diminish, premiums will skyrocket, and people will die.......

The next few decades are going to consist of the young working to pay the bill for benefits that the older generations have given themselves, but chose not to pay for.

Given the condition of the health care market, and the uncertainties of the future economy, I think it's unfair to straddle the young with trillions of dollars in healthcare costs for benefits they may never receive.

If that means you know what then you know what.

I cant say out loud what they actually want to do to us, but we all know what it is.

In some cases just the worrying about the results of all this will give enough people heart attacks and extreme cases of anxiety that it will be devastating.

I hope before they kill me I have some say in what happens.

who will be affected by this? When they find out they no longer have Health Insurance and need to see a doctor, they will be told that the Republicans and Trump took it away.

The "better plan"? What plan would that be, Trump?

Trump told the truth. “When the individual mandate is being repealed, that means ObamaCare is being repealed,”

If this statement is on video it needs to it's needs to be shown during the 2018 campaign. He and the republican took healthcare from 13 million people and effectively raised premiums 10% per year.

land. Congress has made a direct attack on an important component of the law. Some have pointed out that the mandate was not really very effective. I'm more worried at this point about their coming attempt to strangle Medicare and Social Security when the government runs out of funds because of the so-called tax reform bill.

When I was 30 yrs old I was in perfect health and I could run two miles I suddenly started having horrible abdominal and back pain. I started vomiting uncontrollably. I had an ultrasound done and it turned out I had gall bladder disease. This was in 1995. The surgery and recovery cost over $20,000 plus I couldn't work for a month. My health insurance took care of 90% of the health insurance bill and disability insurance paid me half my wages for the month I was out of work. If I did not have insurance I would have had to wait for my condition to become an emergency to get the surgery which would have put my life in jeopardy and I probably would have been evicted for not paying my rent without employment disability.
