White House, GOP expect 2018 grind, more polarization

Source: Axios

Mike Allen 1 hr ago

Top White House officials tell us they anticipate 2018 will be a legislative and accomplishments grind, exacerbated by the very realistic prospects of losing their congressional majorities.

Complicating matters, President Trump faces a wave of staff departures, with thin pickings for replacements.

During Year 1, Trump had a ready supply of executive orders that he could sign while Congress dithered. But we're told there's not a big cupboard of new ones for next year: The most feasible ones have been done.

In this most improvisational of presidencies, there isn't a clear answer to what domestic topic to tackle next. "It's tough to look out on the horizon and see another sure or easy victory," one official said.

First they cut $1.5 Trillion from Medicare and Medicaid in November. That gave them number they could add to the debt in the tax bill and only need 50 votes to do it.

The whole thing just seems to "in the dark of night" from the handwritten notes to having almost no time to review it to passing it in the middle of the night and the House having to revote because they screwed up the first time and now signing it in private. There's was one hearing about it in the Senate. ONE. Oh and they had to waive PayGo so Trump could sign it without getting near doing a pocket veto (10 days not including Sundays).

Accountants and tax lawyers (by the way you can't deduct tax preparation in the new bill) have no idea what's in it. They have clients who actively tax plan who want appointments next week and these firms aren't going to have many answers for them.

Personally, I don’t expect him to unless there’s an undisclosed heath issue.

Want another bucket of KFC? Multiple quarter-pounders? Don't hesitate. All those findings of bad health effects are just fake science by no-nothing killjoy researchers. Don't worry, indulge yourself.

As much and as fast as possible. The future of the human race might depend on it.

I'm sure many of us thought, or were hoping, that he'd be gone by now. I for one, did not think he'd last this long. It makes me very pessimistic that he will be gone anytime soon. It seems like the Mueller investigation will drag on and on until either after Trump is re-elected, or until Mueller is fired and the investigation closed down.

Happy Resist Year.....again
