Former Milwaukee County sheriff to face trial Jan. 22 over airport incident (Clarke)

Source: USA Today

MILWAUKEE — A federal judge Friday dismissed most of a civil-rights lawsuit against former Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. over an incident at Milwaukee's airport last year.

But a claim that Clarke retaliated on Facebook for Daniel Black's exercise of his First Amendment right to shake his head at Clarke survives, and is now set for trial Jan. 22.

Black and Clarke were on the same flight Jan. 15, 2017, from Dallas to Milwaukee. Black saw Clarke wearing Dallas Cowboys gear and asked if he were David Clarke.

Clarke said he was, and Black shook his head and walked away to his seat in coach.

When the plane landed in Milwaukee, Black was greeted by six sheriff's deputies. Clarke directed them to take Black aside and question him.

He seldom takes it off. I think it's the only thing holding his head together. They'll make him remove it during all court proceedings, but he'll always be fingering the rhinestones, which are the true sign of an actual, working Cowboy Hat.

that are military related. He claims he received them from families of fallen soldiers. He never served and he really shouldn't wear them.
He probably wears them to look more authoritative and toigh. I don't know if he completed the FBI school which a ribbon he wears eould mean he has. I will assume he did

Since most of the things on his coat have not real meaning - but they are real shiny.

From the linked article:
"While Clarke's actions reflect poor judgment, they do not shock the conscience," ... U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller ruled.

From Wikipedia:
"“Joseph Peter Stadtmueller is a United States federal judge ... nominated by President Ronald Reagan ...”

A man on a plane simply asked if he were Sheriff David Clarke, and Clarke said he was. The man only shook his head and walked to his seat, later to be met by six sheriff's deputies on arrival; six sheriff's deputies Clarke had ordered to meet and detain the man because he wanted to be a prick.

"While Clarke's actions reflect poor judgment, they do not shock the conscience (to support the due-process claim)" - Judge Stadtmueller.

Really? Six deputies use the power of the state to detain and harass a citizen? "Patriots", once upon a time, threw tea into a harbor for far less than what Clarke did.
