Trump says he stands by Sessions

Source: The Hill

BY JOSH DELK - 01/06/18 01:16 PM EST

President Trump said Saturday that he stands by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, whom the president reportedly tried to stop from recusing himself from the federal Russia probe.

"Yes, I do," Trump told reporters Saturday during a press conference at Camp David when asked if he stands by his attorney general.

The New York Times reported this week that Trump had instructed White House Counsel Don McGahn to tell Sessions not to recuse himself in the probe into Russia's meddling in the election.

Sessions's move to recuse himself ignited a months-long string of attacks from Trump, who said at the time he needed Sessions to defend him against the allegations of collusion, the Times reported.

Which tells you the Camp David meeting was to discuss Mueller, which discussion Sessions can't be party to.

Replacing Sessions would be a step in the wrong direction.

I believe that Jeff Sessions, being a lawyer and former prosecutor, must have known from the beginning that he would recuse himself if the Russian involvement became known. He probably told Cheeto before he was nominated or approved by the Senate, however Cheeto either didn't listen or didn't understand what Jeffy was telling him.

Now he gets it, and he has to live with it. (Let's hope)

His delusion is so strong that he can't imagine that he has a history we've all been following.

I'm sure that nobody in the WH is willing to point out to him that there's a field of bodies in his wake, abandoned buddies and supporters and "loyalists". He reminds me of a cult leader, hell, of the Mormons. One of those compounds where you get excommunicated and shoved out of the high protective walls with nothing, to fend for yourselves. Those few people who have escaped unscathed have had to sneak out quietly while 45 was distracted with twittorrhea and fox and fiends.
