LAS VEGAS - FBI agents knew the gunman behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history left behind big caches of guns, ammunition and explosives when they sought warrants to search his properties and online accounts.
A U.S. judge in Nevada unsealed documents Friday showing some of what federal agents learned about Stephen Paddock in the week after the Las Vegas shooting.
They also show that agents sought the email, Facebook and Instagram accounts of Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who was in the Philippines during the Oct. 1 shooting.

(7,286 posts)Although some CT nut in the twitter comments has it all figured out!
Mostly "he bought guns and ammo in the year before, and so was planning it all meticulously."
Or "his girlfriend helped him load magazines" and, well, loading magazines is suspicious all by itself. Now, if they'd said "helped him load 50 magazines" as opposed to "helped him load 3 magazines" there could be some way of justifying the suspicion. Some idea of time would helpful.
Tease.

(12,882 posts)I hadn't read what you posted and tho I once qualified in the service with an M-16, I'm no expert as to dealing with an automatic weapon - specifically, the spent shell casings. That said - if he truly was meticulous with the planning, is it not possible he devised some way to keep those casings from flying all over the room? Knowing you were going to be laying out a "carpet" of casings around where you'd be shooting, he'd realize it would start to get tough to move around without falling on his ass.
