Trump isn't a very good liar, but he is a very prolific one. The repetition of the same lie over and over again, sometimes feels like he is trying to convince himself. It most definitely gives him away, as honest people don't have to repeat themselves endlessly.

Are special kinds of lies for Trump. These are lies that he KNOWS sound completely ridiculous, so he thinks he needs to put some other superfluous modifier in there to help "sell" them. The rest of the time, he just lies with impunity and doesn't care, since he thinks he's so much smarter than everyone.
