Eagles Dominate Vikings to Reach Super Bowl LII
Source: New York Times
It was 2013 all over again for Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles, as the quarterback channeled his younger self to light up Minnesotas vaunted secondary in a 38-7 victory in the N.F.C. Championship game.
Foless huge performance ended the Vikings season and catapulted the Eagles to Super Bowl LII, where they will face the daunting task of taking on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Foles, who had looked like a potential franchise quarterback in a stint as Philadelphias starter in 2013, was thrust back into a starting role following Carson Wentzs devastating knee injury in Week 13. He had struggled to move the ball, with his play taking the team from Super Bowl favorite to consistent underdog. But against the Vikings the 28-year-old Foles was back to looking like the star some thought he would become. He completed 26 of 33 passes for 352 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 10 of 11 on third-down passes, completed four passes of 35 or more yards, and turned what had been Philadelphias greatest weakness its ability to generate big plays into its biggest strength.
In an on-field interview with Fox after the game, Foles struggled to sum up his emotions, describing himself as speechless. In this moment its unbelievable, he said. Its humbling.

(35,441 posts)Don't get me wrong. I hate the Patriots, but the Eagles have no chance whatsoever. None. No sense in even playing the game.
Keine Chance.

(16,245 posts)I don't get why they chose now to choke, but that is the price of being a Vikings fan. Almost close enough to touch, but always falling short. It is the history of that franchise. They almost never really stink, but they can't really build any sort of momentum either.
But losing builds character among the fan base. I believe that fans of losing teams, especially if they lose a lot, are better fans than fans of winning teams. Which is why I find Patriots fans (and Yankees fans) to be utterly insufferable, as if they think it's their birthright to win. And my god, I can only imagine Trump's tweets when they win this one, as they surely will.

(24,703 posts)years, and as for the offense coordinator for the Vikings (Shumer) going to the Giants, my personal opinion is that there should be negotiations while there are play-offs, I just think it is wrong. Shumer in my opinion game plan sucked, and as for Zimmer, he should be fired, he stuck to a plan that was failing, and the blame lays squarely on those two individuals feet.
Both the Packers defense was discriminated, and the front line for both of the Packers and the Vikings were a patch work, that got the Vikings to the Conference championship, but Zimmer should have blitzed up the middle more, letting the outside single coverage to hold there own...........now that I have done my Monday morning quarterback, I will, and you will have to wait until next year ........................Now on to the Blackhawks.....................

(15,286 posts)NE is showing cracks this year. If not for 4 calls both overturned and upheld by NFL NY replay official Al Riveron, the Pats could well have been 9-7 and out of the playoffs. Think about that.
Anyway, good luck to the Eagles from this Steelers fan.

(15,286 posts)But just too many defensive breakdowns vs Jax. I don't think you guys have been to the SB since Vermeil coached, so good luck and enjoy. It's a lot of fun and more if you win. Win one for Concrete Charlie and keep NE from tying our 6 Lombardi Trophies!
For a historical footnote, during WWII when most able-bodied men were off fighting and the fledgling NFL was short of players, the Steelers and Eagles actually combined for a season (known as the Steagles). Bert Bell, original Eagles founder/owner, sold the Eagles and bought shares in the Steelers during the war years (1940-45) before becoming NFL commissioner.

(129,087 posts)(I was in college). That one we sortof stumbled into and were really outgunned. Leading to these last 2 appearances, we have been progressively more consistent.
Poor Carson Wentz has been lost in the celebrations but he did get us to this point and Foles has done good getting us through the post-season so far (especially with his linkups with Ertz, Carson's fave guy).

(28,079 posts)said the absolute worse thing that could happen to Minneapolis was to have the Eagles and the Patriots in the Super Bowl as we're just not used to people who behave as bad as the fans of both those teams do. .
And, given the poor behavior of the Eagles fans before and after yesterday's game, I'm inclined to think he's right. It's a pity that teams (in any sport) can't be penalized for how their fans act.
Trash talking is one thing, but throwing full cans of beer (among other things) at people is assault.

(31,112 posts)Do they have any chance (realistically, put your heart aside those who answer this) against those rats in NE?
DeminPennswoods
(15,286 posts)hadn't been hurt. No one really knew what to expect from Foles. Eagles have a very good defense and underrated OL. They'll pressure Brady with just 4 DL and he's already pretty banged up. Nick Foles, the qb, is the big variable. Despite their record, NE has looked ordinary in a lot of games this season.

(31,112 posts)Foles is the replacement, he is playing the SB?

(5,937 posts)only started watching Eagles more closely up to and during playoffs and took notice of how humble he appears. I'm a Pack fan, and with Rodgers out most the season I was'nt as engaged but really am enjoying what the Eagles are doing and find myself rooting for them.
