Morgan Stanley said Monday former congressman Harold Ford Jr. was fired over "corporate policy," disputing reports he was dismissed over allegations of sexual misconduct.
"We take allegations of inappropriate conduct seriously," a company spokesperson said in a statement. "The press has reported that Mr. Ford was terminated for sexual misconduct. He was not."
They added: "We have not received any internal allegations of sexual harassment or misconduct involving him either before or after his separation became public. As previously stated, his separation was based on corporate policy."
HuffPost reported in December that Ford had been dismissed "after facing a human resources investigation into allegations of misconduct," citing a company spokesperson. It also reported that he faced allegations from a woman who did not work for Morgan Stanley but had interacted with him in a professional setting.
