The Trump administration is waiving dozens of environmental regulations to speed up construction of President Trumps proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Homeland Security Secretary Kirsten Nielsen said in a notice published in the Federal Register Monday that she was waiving the rules to accelerate construction on part of the wall in New Mexico.
The waiver excludes rules from major laws including the National Environment Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Act, among others.

The Secretary of Homeland Security has determined, pursuant to law, that it is necessary to waive certain laws, regulations and other legal requirements in order to ensure the expeditious construction of barriers and roads in the vicinity of the international land border of the United States near the Santa Teresa Land Port of Entry in the state of New Mexico, the waiver reads.

(4,423 posts)Democratic lawmakers will appropriate it for him, at least that's the feeling I'm getting. So in a nutshell Trump will get his border wall funded and installed, fixes to chain migration and the VISA lottery system all for giving DACA recipients a legal status while they apply for citizenship. Not to mention he will Triumph this as a major Legacy achievement and stick it right in the eye of President Obama.

(60,010 posts)There is a great sense of urgency about building this wall. There are ways for people to make money from it, both in construction and in land grabbing. Totally no surprise if that comes to light.
There will be lawsuits for years.

(22,169 posts)Keep 'em coming. How can he just "waive" laws?
Maybe he figures he needs to hustle this thru now before he loses his evil power. I can't agree with people who say just leave him in office to keep screwing up, and make the Dems look good. He's a human wrecking ball.
