Exclusive: New signs Gates may be negotiating with Mueller's team

Source: CNN

Former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates has quietly added a prominent white-collar attorney, Tom Green, to his defense team, signaling that Gates' approach to his not-guilty plea could be changing behind the scenes.

Green, a well-known Washington defense lawyer, was seen at special counsel Robert Mueller's office twice last week. CNN is told by a source familiar with the matter that Green has joined Gates' team.

Green isn't listed in the court record as a lawyer in the case and works for a large law firm separate from Gates' primary lawyers.

Green's involvement suggests that there is an ongoing negotiation between the defendant's team and the prosecutors. At this stage, with Gates' charges filed and bail set, talks could concern the charges and Gates' plea. The defense and prosecution are currently working together on discovery of evidence.

By the sound of it, they're changing their tunes for a reason: Mueller's got the goods on them and he's going to drop a hammer on their asses if they continue their little lying charade.

They are almost self-flipping waffles. Plus, consider who the cooperating witnesses are. Would you go to trial against a witness list of the highest officials in the IC?

They are, too. No moral convictions or character of any kind except what is in the best interest for me. Trump surrounds himself with people like this.
These people are filling our government offices and institutions.

He demands absolute loyalty. But no one's willing to do prison time for that orange rat.

I love it.

The legal fees become too costly. Working out a plea deal relieves the financial pressure.

by these probes. Even if you're completely innocent you're advised to hire an attorney who can tell you what to expect and warn you of FBI traps they'll set for you.

Many young aides take Washington jobs that don't pay the bills just to get on the jobs ladder.

The prosecutors know this and can call a person iin again and again until they bankrupt them.

I think prosecutors know they have time on their side.

They can call a citizen in again and again, and stretch things out knowing the guy is being bled white. It makes people make deals they wouldn't make if they weren't under such financial pressure.

With gates testifying against him, manafort doesn't have a hope of winning his case in court.

Mannafort can take trump down on money laundering. It's possible gates knows something, but nowhere near what manafort knows.

The dominos are a fallin......
