Zinke Claims He Exempted Florida From Drilling Plan Due To 'Coastal Currents'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Caitlin MacNeal | January 24, 2018 11:28 am

About three weeks after Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke announced that he would exempt Florida from the Trump administration’s plan to expand offshore drilling, Zinke on Tuesday offered a new explanation for his decision.

Zinke’s announcement exempting Florida was seen as a political move since top Republicans are pushing Gov. Rick Scott to run for Senate in 2018.

Zinke told CNN that he was moved to exempt Florida because the state’s coast is unique. “The coastal currents are different, the layout of where the geology is,” he said.

He also claimed that he met with Gov. Scott quickly, and not with the governors of other states, about the issue because Scott and “every member” representing Florida contacted him.

Florida's currents and geography won't be proven to be any more special or different than CA or SC. He basically just destroyed the WH's defense

It also has to break around all the oil rigs that are already out there.

Here's the problem: If you look at the Wiki page for oil production in the Gulf of Mexico, you learn that people have already tried exploring for oil around Florida. So far they have drilled 59 wells around Florida and all of them have been dry holes. If they would have come clean with the people and told them there's no oil around Florida - and we have looked HARD for it - so just drilling more and more dry holes is going to raise the price of gas for no good reason, people would accept that. This shit about currents sounds like they're trying to come up with a reason to keep the president's paying customers from having to look at oil rigs while they're sipping their cocktails at sunset.

He's doing this to fuck CA,NY,MA,MD,DE,RI because they didn't vote for russia/repugs and exempting FL because russia hacked our votes in South FL so drumpf would win. They know oil drilling would be a game changer here and they;d lose bigly and FL has too many electoral votes for them to stomach losing. Guarantee you, if FL votes Dem in 2018, drilling will be started here asap as punishment. That's the way their evil (lack of) brains work.
