Man who sold ammo to Las Vegas shooter charged

Source: AP

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — An Arizona man who sold ammunition to the gunman in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history was charged Friday with manufacturing armor-piercing bullets, according to court documents obtained by The Associated Press.

Unfired armor-piercing bullets found inside the Las Vegas hotel room where the attack was launched on Oct. 1 contained the fingerprints of ammunition dealer Douglas Haig of Arizona, according to the complaint filed in federal court in Phoenix. It says Haig didn't have a license to manufacture armor-piercing ammunition.

The records don't say if the ammunition was used in the attack. Haig was charged shortly before holding a news conference Friday where he said he didn't notice anything suspicious when he sold 720 rounds of ammunition to Stephen Paddock in the weeks before the attack that killed 58 people.

Might go boom if the tank is empty and full of fumes, otherwise you'll just have a hole in the tank where the gas leaks out.

Wouldnt tracers have lit it after it was pierced? He tried to get some but the guy didn't have any left. We also dont know what other kind of bullets he failed to get. From what i understand he definitely fired on the tanks but nothing went through.

Would be just like arresting a bar tender because one of his patrons killed someone while driving drunk. As for the armor piercing part, I hope people realize that makes the bullets less deadly vs unarmored targets. Hollow points such as those for hunting would be the best vs unarmored targets.

right there in the 2nd paragraph is why it's fair:

It says Haig didn't have a license to manufacture armor-piercing ammunition.

I would imagine that's the only reason he had them. He was a gun enthusiast and knew what bullets to use for different purposes

This guy's crime was in making and selling it without the proper permits.

He's the ammunition version of a moonshiner.
