Israelis were given land that was taken away from the Palestinians, although in the early years some Palestinians were paid for their lands. In more recent decades, Israeli settlers have simply used bulldozers to destroy Palestinian homes so settlers could build on their land. Netanyahu said back in January that expelling these migrants was necessary to “preserve the character of the Jewish state.” That sounds a lot like the white supremacists claim of preserving the culture of the United States by keeping making it white. It is ironic and disturbing that a people who suffered greatly because of their lack of pure white blood, but who have been given much as a result of that suffering, are refusing to help desperate people of color who are fleeing wars and the destruction of their own lands. Israel’s leaders have shown that they are just as biased against people of color as our own government is.

Have they forgotten how they felt when they were turned away when they needed help and sanctuary? I do not even recognize Isreal anymore.
