Japanese Nikkie Futures Point to 8% Market Drop

Source: business Insider

It looks like Tuesday will be a pretty nasty session for stock investors across Asia, especially those in Japan.

Wall Street just suffered its largest decline in years, volatility has spiked to levels not seen since August 2015, and the Japanese yen has rallied across the board — including by nearly 1% against the US dollar.

It all points to an ugly open for Japanese markets in just under two hours time.

Nikkei 225 futures were down by around 8% at 8.30am AEDT.

a great time to rob the peoples retirement funds. Can't wait until inflation hits and we see double digit interest rates. I don't understand why people vote for repubs, the party of the 1%.

I saw in the second link that the Nikkei was closed, and I thought already? I checked what time it was in Tokyo: 12 noon. Hmmmm. Did they shut it down because of excessive drop? So I did a simple Google search (see first link) on "Nikkei Index" and that showed me that it was closed for a one hour lunch break between 1130 AM and 1230 PM. So I learn something new every day.

2nd edit, 950pm CST - there seems to be a 20 minute delay, but anyway the Nikkei just started trading again.
