UPDATED - Poll: Most say they believe FBI over Trump

Source: The Hill

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 02/09/18 12:06 PM EST

Two-thirds of Americans say they would side with the FBI in a disagreement with President Trump, according to a Marist poll released Friday.

Sixty-six percent of Americans surveyed said they would take the side of the FBI if a schism were to arise between the bureau and Trump, while only 24 percent said they would side with the president.

Seventy-one percent of respondents say they believe the FBI is trying to do its job and is not biased against the president, and 23 percent said they thought the bureau was biased against Trump.

Relations between the president and the FBI have declined over the past year amid the ongoing special counsel investigation into Russian election meddling.

UPDATE:

Poll: Majority say Mueller’s Russia probe is fair

BY JOHN BOWDEN - 02/09/18 12:00 PM EST

A majority of Americans say special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia is fair and should continue without interference, a Marist College poll reports.

The poll, released Friday, finds that just more than half of those surveyed, 53 percent, say that the special counsel probe is a "fair" investigation into Trump's campaign, while 28 percent say it is "unfair." This marks an increase from 48 percent who said the investigation was "fair" in the same poll last month.

In addition, respondents said they are more likely to trust Mueller than Trump. Given an option between the two, 55 percent said they would believe Mueller over Trump, compared to 30 percent that said the reverse.

Most Americans still have a positive view of the FBI despite weeks of attacks from Trump and congressional Republicans over the bureau's handling of both the Russia investigation and the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server, the poll finds.

…..Fox can be the highest rated news show and yet Americans show some discernment from time to time. FOX has been really pushing the Nunes memo, and the "fix" put in by the Dems, via the FBI and others, to get Trump. How do Americans see through all that if they are mostly only watching propaganda?

They've been busted so many times for their lies. Wish we had a way to get through to more of their cult. Assemble a memo (or something) of our own showing their obvious dishonesty. Something real simple and humorous 'cause they have no attention span.

Hannity spouts off hate the FBI rhetoric viciously almost every day and night using terms like "dodgey dossier", "totally discredited dossier" (when nothing in it has been) as if they only say it enough it will be true.

One guy I communicate with said Comey "totally discredited" it. This guy messaged me the minute Nunes memo came out telling me this was! it - YES, the whole thing was based on a lie! When I pointed out that all it proved was that it was Papodopolis's mouth was the basis of the original investigation and it said so right in the memo itself.

He shut up quick after I pointed out a few more holes in the memo. I really enjoyed that and think I may have planted a seed of doubt in his world view.

With this guy and many like him - the whole deal is that the Democrats aren't "manly" enough. Like that was a bad thing, lol.

…manliness is it I think. The cult is looking at categories that have nothing to do with "news" or "facts". It's tribal identity of a very special kind.

So yeah—they can support the FBI and still defend their guy, Trump, because he uses all the right dog-whistles. Thanks.
