FBI chief: Trump hasn't directed me to stop Russian meddling in midterms

FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday said President Trump hasn’t directed him to stop Russian efforts to interfere in this year’s midterm elections.

“We’re taking a lot of specific efforts to blunt Russian efforts,” Wray said when Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) asked if he’d been directed by Trump to do so.

“As directed by the president?” Reed interjected.

“Not as specifically directed by the president,” Wray responded.

Is the head of the FBI so brain dead he won't investigate a crime unless directed by the president? It must be hell when he has to take a leak and must ask for permission to go to the little boys room.

Does a city police chief not enforce laws against murder if the mayor does not "direct" him to do that? Why do we even have a FBI Director if he needs to be told to do the most basic things? Why would any agency director have to be micro-managed by the White House?
