Making Case for His Medicare Plan, Ryan Tells Personal Tale

Source: NY Times

THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Paul D. Ryan wove a story of generational obligation on Saturday to make the case for his controversial Medicare plan and personalize an issue that has the potential to be one of Mr. Ryan’s biggest liabilities in joining the Republican ticket.

* * *
Mr. Romney, who has said he would sign the House budget as president, seemed to back away from the commitment this week when he emphasized that he would restore the Medicare cuts incorporated in the plan.

Mr. Ryan has appeared to be on both sides of the issue — voting for the cuts in his budget in March, then voting to repeal the health care law — but on Wednesday, Mr. Romney made clear that his running mate supported his own position. “Congressman Ryan has joined my campaign, and his campaign is my campaign now, and we’re on exactly the same page,” Mr. Romney said in an interview with CBS.

The $716 billion in cuts (or savings) come from reducing payments to providers over the next decade in an effort to control costs. They include lower payments to hospitals and nursing homes, and to Medicare Advantage.

I have to say that Romney/Ryan all over the map on the issue of Medicare with Ryan both defending his plan, but then distancing himself from it, by suggesting that nothing is being changed. Likewise, Romney is flip flopping by promising to sign the House budget as President, but then backing away from that promise.

Sadly, the MSM continues to generally given Romney/Ryan a free pass on their false charge that Democrats cut $700 billion Medicare when there has been no actual cut in benefits. Indeed, the irony is that after attacking the HCR for failing to cut costs, Republicans are attacking cost savings as cuts in benefits.

1. IF the CouponPaul plan is SO good...why not implement it on DAY NUMBER 1 of them being in the White House?

2. I say, Flipp'n Mittens and Lie'n Ryan need to SIGN a pledge (like a Grover pledge), saying that they WILL bring a stop to
all aspects of Obamacare, as soon as they can.

Let's see them run on and answer to those.

It's tough to go to Florida and tell people the truth: With my plan you'll pay much more and if I'm lucky Medicare will be bankrupt asap! AND you'll probably die if you can't afford your hefty premiums to go along with vouchercare. But hey we have to have something left for the youngsters, but only after we millionaires see an even further reduced tax rate, see I care!

Shouldn't Rmoney have said My campaign is Ryan's campaign? Who wears the magic underwear in this dynamic duo?

As long as no one can determine whether they are for or against Medicare they can lie that Obama is trying to take it away. It works so effectively even leftists tout that Obama is taking it away.

Romney favors the privatization of Unemployment Insurance. how long do you think private savings would last when the economy sinks..
THis link during a debate at the Gobber's ball this past winter. Vouchers are the cure for everything , so they think. Privatized unemployment is even more radical than their other privatization plans, I think..

Obviously Ryan doesn't know shit. Medicare covers NOTHING when it comes to home care for an Alzheimer's patient. It only covers doctors' visits and medical procedures. If an Alz. patient is physically healthy, it doesn't cover ANYTHING for the disease--- not for a dementia unit, not for home care, NOTHING.

My mom has advanced Alz. and cannot be left alone for a minute. She is either with me or an aide 24/7. Medicare covers NOTHING for this and 24/7 home care is my mom's greatest expense because she's physically healthy.

I call bullshit on Mr. Ryan's statement.
