NEW YORK — The National Rifle Association, and now the State of Florida, faced a growing backlash Saturday as companies cut ties to the gun industry following the latest school massacre, and student survivors called for tourism boycotts of their home state until gun control measures are enacted.

The latest companies to end their ties with the NRA were Delta and United Airlines, two of the three largest U.S.-based airlines.

.............................
The State of Florida also was facing some backlash. One of the survivors of the Florida school shooting suggested Saturday on Twitter that tourists stay away from the state. He got an immediate response.

"Let's make a deal," tweeted David Hogg, a Stoneman Douglas student who has been a major player in the #neveragain movement. "DO NOT come to Florida for spring break unless gun legislation is passed.".................

as crazy as that sounds, he's made noises about raising the age back to 21 to buy guns, where it was before his tealiban changed it to 18 and allowed that rw trumper asswipe to kill so many. He's also talked about outlawing bump stocks. However, it's not enough -semi-automatic rifles/pistols must also be banned
government buy-back for all assault weapons
background checks for all purchases including private and including mental health
CDC must start tracking gun injury and killing statistics so we know the true scope of what's happening and where
no more than 1 gun purchase per year (or bi-annually?)
outlaw large capacity magazines
mandatory gun locks.

Taken together, these measures would save lives.

The Florida House will do nothing the NRA does not want.

Scott knows it, the house knows it and the NRA knows it.

This is setting Scott up to look moderate for his run against Nelson.

They assume this will all blow over in a few weeks

is demonstrating that taking NRA money or voting for NRA-backed policy is a political third rail. As long as the NRA has politicians in their pocket, boycotts will have little impact on policy.

Florida House Republicans Demand Sheriff's Ouster Over Parkland Shooting Response

"As a result of Sheriff Israel's failures, students and teachers died," the 74 state lawmakers wrote in a letter to Gov. Rick Scott (R).

How about waiting for an investigation to determine who exactly was at fault since there may be multiple failures including the FBI?

No! Blame somebody other than the GOPNRA right now! - GOPNRA

Its all working for those evil fucks at the NRA. The NRA isn't scared of the kid, in the least bit. Those kids have probably inadvertently helped the NRA peddle it's BS and get new members.
Th ats how the NRA makes money. They get 5 million + members every year to renew membership.
The NRA doesn't need those companies it's all feel good theatrics.

School shootings work in their favor, I wouldn't be surprised if they sponsored them.

Watch the news..Remington was going to file BK paperwork, that happening would have been real progress. Watch how this whole thing saves them now.

Sick
