Top Senate GOPer: I'd 'Prefer' WH Not Nominate Trump's Pilot To Lead FAA

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Caitlin MacNeal | February 27, 2018 7:38 am

Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who chairs the Senate Commerce Committee, told Politico on Monday evening that he would prefer the White House nominate someone other than President Donald Trump’s personal pilot to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in order to make the confirmation process easier.

“I’d prefer that they send somebody up that we can confirm easily. I’ve conveyed that to them,” Thune told Politico. “I’m sure that the Democrats would probably want to make it challenging.” Both Axios and the Washington Post reported Sunday that John Duncan, who flew Trump’s personal plane during the 2016 campaign, is under consideration to lead the FAA.

Thune did not raise any issues with Dunkin’s qualifications but suggested that there are other qualified candidates that would be easier to confirm in the Senate, a process Thune would oversee as Commerce chair.

“They say he’s got good qualifications and all that,” Thune told Politico. “But there are other people that I’m aware of that they’ve been vetting that would be very good in that position.”

They should make me Secretary of Commerce.

On Edit: Maybe Treasury. I have to know more than Mnuchin. About everything there is to know.

just came into Laguardia, over flew the "threshold" by 4,200 feet on a 7,000 foot runway, slamming on the brakes, traveling over 130-150 miles per hour in a 737-300 type aircraft, raining the plane was full of reporters and the head fuck head running with the sexual predators doofus team Pence riding along, I wonder if he (pence) got a brown stain in his pants and was saying oh shit.

Then these two bozo's in the cockpit were over riding themselves within the inputs to the column on trying to flair out the plane, and they were too high, no throttle retardation like pushing them forward on touch down, no deployment of the speedbrake, like taking the handle out of the detent position by lifting up to deploy the brakes, and then ................and he has license......................really, when was the "last" time he had a FAA flight instructor / Inspector fly with the both of them for a "check ride" to see what the procedures they are "mandated" to use at altitude, and when below 10,000 feet, like using a "checklist" you know that little thing plastic cover clipped on the control column on what your suppose to do.......................apparently they have no fucking clue..................

And the sexual predator wants him to be in charge of the FAA--------------------so that he can outsource everything like they fly.....................................no thanks, time to call the Senate....................

incompetent, unqualified fools. Trump can't nominate any expert for these positions because no one with the necessary knowledge and experience will risk their careers and their integrity by working for him, so he's stuck with these bush-league scrapings from the bottom of the barrel. To add insult to injury, Trump's pilot is a fool if he thinks that flying a plane somehow makes him competent to run a huge federal agency. That's like saying, I can boil water therefore I'm qualified to run a 5 star restaurant.

R's can't vote their own mind because they don't have individual minds. It's a hive of insects gnawing away at government, ethics, sanity and decency.

not really knowing anyone, not knowing how to identify and choose good people, and he still doesn't know anyone who would point him to good people, even if any would accept a job, which is highly unlikely. I think we can safely assume powerhouses like the Kochs are allowing Trump to fill this one himself without their interference.

Or would it be more effective for me to spell that question in Cyrillic, Senator Thune? I’d like to make sure it has enough priority for you to give a reply.
