Kander hires Des Moines Register scribe amid 2020 buzz
Source: Politico
Potential 2020 presidential candidate Jason Kander is hiring an Iowa-based communications director as his national organization staffs up.
Kander, the former Missouri secretary of state and failed 2016 Senate candidate who has become an unlikely national Democratic figure, is bringing on Jason Noble, who on Friday announced he was leaving his job as political reporter for the Des Moines Register.
Noble will direct national communications strategy for Kanders Let America Vote, which is dedicated to pushing back on voting restrictions on the state level, and for Kander himself. He will start work next week for Kanders Let America Vote group from the organizations offices in Des Moines.
The move comes as prospective Democratic presidential candidates begin to staff up ahead of the 2020 primary, slotting campaign veterans into positions on official office, reelection and advocacy group payrolls. Nobles job will include speechwriting for Kander.

Can we get Blunt to resign? What do the Russians have on him?

(806 posts)Traditionally, the prerequisite for being considered a serious presidential candidate was winning one of the top two state wide races (Governor or US Senator) or being a very important US congressman. Lately, though (and for the first time I can recall), it seems there's been serious talk of candidates running in 2020 whose resumes fall substantially short of that - Jason Kander (former MO Secretary of State), Julian Castro (former Mayor of San Antonio and former HUD Secretary), Pete Buttigieg (Mayor of South Bend, Indiana), Mitch Landrieu (Mayor of New Orleans), etc.
