President Trump's sons' visit to Dubai this week has costed taxpayers a minimum of $73,000 in security costs, according to government purchase orders viewed by CBS News. The purchase orders describe the costs for United States Secret Service agents to stay at hotels close to the Trump property and car service for the trip listed as being from March 26 through April 8.
The trip is for the family business and not related to any government work.
Secret Service spokesperson Mason Brayman emailed CBS News in response to a request for comment on the trip: "The Secret Service is conducting a protective operation in the UAE. As a matter of practice we do not comment on the specifics of protectee's trips."
Eric and Donald Trump Jr. traveled to Dubai to spend time with the Trump Organization's Middle East business partner Hussain Sajwani and his family. Sajwani's daughter is getting married, according to the Trump Organization and tweets from Sajwani.
Sajwani tweeted a picture of himself with President Trump's sons Friday, saying, "Yesterday, I was delighted to host my dear friends and business partners @donaldjtrumpjr & @erictrump for a very special occasion in my family's life." ...............................

(23,362 posts)Trump's kids are pretty excessive in their travel. But, nobody complained much about protection for Obama's daughters, or GWB's daughters, or for Chelsea Clinton.
So, until we vote these bums out, ...

Many, many posts on this site decried the right when they complained about security costs for the Obama kids when they were on spring break. We cannot believe it is okay for Obama's children to have security and then turn around and say it isn't okay for 45's.

(7,596 posts)Aren't these two adult daddy boys rich enough to afford their own security? I resent Obama's young children, the oldest of whom was barely entering adulthood when he left office, being compared to them.

(4,066 posts)In no way did I compare the two sets of children. There is absolutely no way to compare them.
What I proposed was fair and equal treatment for everyone. Regardless of how we feel about them personally.

(4,066 posts)I know people don't like it, but it is the established law and way of doing things. Obama's kids took spring break trips to the Caribbean and the right-wing went bonkers over the cost. People on this site called the right out for being unfair. They made the argument that they were, as children of the sitting President, entitled to security.
We cannot turn around and make the opposite argument now, just because a Republican is in office and we despise his children. That is called FUCKING HYPOCRISY. I am not a hypocrite and don't plan to become one.
I don't see how we can call ourselves the equality, fair, progressive, liberal party and not apply the rules equally.
ON EDIT: If I wanted to be a hypocrite, judge people for attributes about them like party, parents, race, religion, etc. and then treat them differently and poorly because of those attributes I'd become a Republican. But I'm not.
