Source: The Hill
The Democratic candidate in a Florida state Senate special election overwhelmingly defeated her GOP opponent, a delegate for President Trump during the 2016 election.
Democrat Lori Berman easily won the special election in the state's 31st district with 74.8 percent of the vote. Republican Tami Donnally earned about 25.2 percent with nearly all precincts reporting, according to Florida Division of Elections.
This is a win for the people of Palm Beach County on the issues that matter to us, Berman, a current state lawmaker, said, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Its a mandate that the issues we see education, gun control, health care, the environment matter to people of Palm Beach County, she continued.

(50,557 posts)After the shit Trump has put Palm Beach County through since before he bought Mar-a-Lago, I am a little surprised anyone affiliated with him at any time would have ever run for office there.
Given that, I'm still very pleased she got stomped like a grape. A fifty-percent margin of loss sends a serious message.

(129,007 posts)So this was already a blue seat but in order to bolster the tsunami, we need to hold our current seats, claw back seats we lost in the past, and start converting red seats to blue.

As noted, this is a blue seat anyway -- DUers and others in the US like to overlook that Palm Beach County, Broward, and Miami-Dade are blue.
