Robert Mueller: 300,000 vow to march if Trump fires special counsel
Source: The Guardian
More than 300,000 people have pledged to attend rapid response protests across the US, should Donald Trump fire special counsel Robert Mueller.
The activist website MoveOn said it had more than 800 emergency rallies around the country prepared if Trump dismisses Mueller, who is investigating whether there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Activists would spring into action within hours, MoveOn said, marching in cities and towns in each of the 50 states. The mass protest would also be triggered if Trump moved to replace the deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein which could clear a path for Mueller to be fired or if Trump pardoned key witnesses in the Russia investigation.
As Trump has stepped up his criticism of the special counsel in recent weeks, MoveOn said people had flooded to its website to sign up for rapid response rallies.

(32,717 posts)...and it won't be just Democrats marching either. I believe the MoveOn sign up would get the ball rolling - so maybe that's why they think it's 300,000. But way more people will join in, including all or most of the kids who marched in the March for our Lives last month. What about all the women who marched in January for the Women's March? What about the March for Science people from last spring? This would be way bigger - if either Rosenstein or Mueller are fired.
Trump will be shitting his pants for sure.

(6,117 posts)I would expect many times that number would hit the streets. Probably the largest demonstration ever. Would be less centralized, but would be everywhere.

(51,623 posts)expects the march to be bigger than both the Women's March and "March for your Life". I got word from my activist pals when they first organized it in Dec there were a few hundred sites, now it has tripled. I keep posting it on DU and try to keep up to date with the info. My signs have been ready for 4 months but now I have the flu so he had better wait until I feel better! Damn It! RESIST! REMOVE! Peace.
