Ex-CIA director tears into Trump: 'Your kakistocracy is collapsing'

Source: The Hill

BY JACQUELINE THOMSEN - 04/13/18 10:51 AM EDT

Former CIA Director John Brennan on Friday went after President Trump over his attacks on former FBI Director James Comey, tweeting that Trump’s “kakistocracy is collapsing after its lamentable journey.”

Trump lashed out at Comey in a pair of tweets early Friday, calling him a “leaker & liar” and an “untruthful slime ball.”

The attack came after multiple media outlets reported on excerpts of Comey’s upcoming book.

Comey writes in the book that Trump had asked him to probe the infamous “pee tape” mentioned in the so-called Steele dossier in order to disprove its existence. The dossier alleges that Trump hired prostitutes to urinate on a bed used by former President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at the Moscow Ritz-Carlton.

Mr. Trump has spent his career in the company of developers and celebrities, and also of grifters, cons, sharks, goons and crooks. He cuts corners, he lies, he cheats, he brags about it, and for the most part, he’s gotten away with it, protected by threats of litigation, hush money and his own bravado. Those methods may be proving to have their limits when they are applied from the Oval Office. Though Republican leaders in Congress still keep a cowardly silence, Mr. Trump now has real reason to be afraid. A raid on a lawyer’s office doesn’t happen every day; it means that multiple government officials, and a federal judge, had reason to believe they’d find evidence of a crime there and that they didn’t trust the lawyer not to destroy that evidence.

if it doesn't hold, jurisprudence and political theory going all the way back to Magna Carta stand in the balance

Will civilization move forward, or backward?

Couldn't anyone in a position to do anything about this have foreseen this battle 10 miles off?

It's like we fell down Alice's rabbit hole. In 2015 and 1st half of 2016 few thought Dumpster would survive the primaries, and if he did many, including myself, thought Clinton would crush him easily. Surely the American people aren't that stupid. The idea that the orange clown could actually win the general was the furthest thing from our minds. ....in my mind at least until Comey reopened the investigation and from that point on I had a really bad feeling about the whole thing. We took a few days vacation that October when the Comey crap broke and I didn't enjoy one minute of it.

of the gop KNEW exactly what would happen, and HELPED. They wanted tax breaks for their owners, and to destroy safety nets, and protections for regular people. They call themselves "representatives". What a joke!! In this case, they represent the very worst of human behavior. Ryan will take all the cash he has stashed from the Koch brothers and other wealthy people and then collect a nice pension, plus healthcare from the fools who voted for him and even the ones who did not.

If I remember correctly, the quote from Condi Rice was “I don’t think anyone could have predicted...” regarding the attack on the World Trade Center.

If the event in question never happened, Trump wouldn't have to worry about the tape, would he?

but the meaning didn't stick with me-- I think it will now

The word comes from the Greek words kakistos (?ά??????; worst) and kratos (??ά???; rule), with a literal meaning
of government by the worst people
(so I read)
