Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein tells confidantes he is prepared to be fired
Source: NBC
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has struck a stoic and righteous tone in private conversations he has had this week about the fate of his job as President Donald Trump has launched public criticism against him and considered firing him, according to three sources who have spoken to Rosenstein.
In those conversations, he has repeated the phrase, "Here I stand," a reference to Martin Luther's famous quote, "Here I stand, I can do no other." Coincidentally, former FBI Director James Comey, whom Rosenstein fired, repeated the same phrase to President George W. Bush in a conversation that has been widely reported and that Comey describes in his forthcoming book.
One source who spoke to Rosenstein said he seemed fully aware he may soon lose his job and was at peace with the possibility, confident he had done his job with integrity.

Constitutional Crisis sounds really scary but what actually happens when we reach that point?
Seems like we're already in a crisis since day one with this lunatic.

(5,914 posts)That was when the US Supreme Court took the unprecedented step of deciding the Presidential election.
THAT was when the GOP found out that they could completely ignore the rules of the Constitution and basically do whatever the fuck they want, and no one will ever stop them.
Since then, the Constitution has been sort of a set of guidelines that would be nice to follow, but maybe not. "Emoluments clause"?
Get outta here!

(4,836 posts)government doesn't uphold their oath of office. As we now see, there really doesn't seem to be anything one can do. That's a failure.

(5,210 posts)but we have failed the Constitution.
And you're wrong (and you know it): THere IS something we can do, and will do: vote them out of office.
FWIW, I think the Democrats are complicit in that they've allowed so much shit to go on unaddressed in years prior to this. But that's another subject. We The People are going to have to demand more of them in future.

(17,918 posts)Any permanent replacement would have to be confirmed by the Senate. To fire Mueller, Dumpster would have to go down the list, firing or accepting resignations until he finds his "Bork"...someone willing to do the dirty work. Robert Bork fired special prosecutor Archibald Cox during the "Saturday Night Massacre" in 73.

They wont approve new lines of investigations, wont approve search warrants or indictments. Budgets will get cut, paychecks will be late. Out with a whimper instead of a bang.
