Trump issues pardon for Lewis 'Scooter' Libby

Source: Politico

By ANDREW RESTUCCIA and JOSH GERSTEIN 04/13/2018 10:22 AM EDT Updated 04/13/2018 11:34 AM EDT

UPDATE 1:20 p.m.:

President Donald Trump on Friday granted a full pardon to Lewis “Scooter” Libby, the former George W. Bush administration official who was caught up in the investigation into the leak of the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame.

“I don’t know Mr. Libby,” Trump said in a statement, adding, “but for years I have heard that he has been treated unfairly. Hopefully, this full pardon will help rectify a very sad portion of his life.”

There is no reason for anyone to ever tell the truth about anything except fear of getting caught at which point you can always find a pardon

figures they would go for that. It sends a message that further supports their approval of lying to Americans, and further weakens American security, which is what the frikken republicans are all about these deplorable days.

He was convicted of lying to the FBI. Richard Armitage unmasked Valerie Plame.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage acknowledged Thursday that he was the source who first revealed the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame to syndicated columnist Robert Novak back in 2003, touching off a federal investigation.

He wants certain people (aka witnesses for the grand jury) to see him use his pardon powers.

but it is also a sign that he is willing to support people that try to or have undermined the
rule of law in America. Libby outed Val Plame (w/Cheney & Rove's help) and that rolled up
her CIA front company and now doubt led to more than death, torture, or imprisonment.

After all Libby already escaped from going to prison thanks to Bush so this smells largely of a self serving act by Donald to try and help his plummeting ratings among the Repugnant voter base more than anything.
