Trapped In The White House: Many Trump Aides Are Too Toxic To Get Jobs

Source: BuzzFeed

Trump administration officials looking to escape to the private sector are getting a rude awakening: No one wants to hire them.

Companies and firms who used to recruit from presidential administrations and brag when they were successful in poaching an aide are making the calculation that the risks of bringing on a Trump administration official outweigh the rewards, according to interviews with 10 current and former administration officials, top recruiters, and lobbyists who did not want to be named to talk candidly. BuzzFeed News reached out to them after previously reporting during an especially chaotic stretch for the Trump White House that some officials were trying to leave but finding their job prospects to be “pretty bleak.” That’s especially pronounced for more junior staff.

The leadership at a prominent, bipartisan Washington public affairs firm went as far as to make an active decision not to hire from the Trump White House because of the "reputational risk" associated with it, a former White House official was recently told. The official asked BuzzFeed News not to disclose the name of the firm.

In another case, a White House official said he was rejected out of the blue for a job after being given indications he would be hired and was explicitly told his affiliation with the Trump White House had been a problem for some at the company.

more than the typical federal employee who has a lot more education and experience, and actually are working a lot harder than the typical Trump hire. There was an article on here about a month ago that talked about all the Trump employees who were maxing out at top salaries which were intended for well qualified applicants with high credentials but that the people doing the firing were all former campaign workers with no professional experience themselves. These people not knowing what they were doing were hiring anyone who applied and were giving them top salaries because they didn't know any better. Many were in their early 20s, had worked on the Trump campaign and were making in the high 6 figures. The article mentioned one lady in the hiring department who had served in the previous administration and had some experience had been put in charge of the process, and had bought 4 family members on board and placed them in well paid positions.

Omarosa Manigault who was fired by Chief of Staff John Kelly and was said to spend all her workday gossiping with Trump in the Oval Office along with lots of other young staffers was said to be earning $181,000 when she was fired. Manigault who's claim to fame was being an "Apprentice" on Trump's show and later became a Pastor. Sarah Huckabee Sanders whose only jobs have been working on her father's campaigns in Arkansas is the WH Spokesperson and receives the maximum salary.

In contrast, my salary when I worked in the Washington DC area for the federal government as a Contract Administrator GS-13 Step 5 in 2012 was $103,000, and I actually had a real job with real responsibilities.

Hope Hicks who was a model for Ivanka Trump's clothing line before being hired as a Trump Organization 'Communications Director.'

Hope Hicks, the White House communications director and trusted confidante of President Donald Trump, abruptly announced on Wednesday she was resigning from the role that made her the youngest and highest-paid White House staff member. ...

...Hicks is a former model and public relations professional who is 29 years old. A document released last summer by the White House revealed that the highest annual salary for staffers was $179,700. A total of 22 White House personnel earned that $179,700 per year, and Hope Hicks was among them.

Hicks was then listed as “Assistant to the President and Director of Strategic Communications.” Several of the other White House staffers who were earning $179,700 per year have already left the administration, including Steve Bannon, Omarosa Manigault, K.T. McFarland, Robert Porter, Reince Priebus, and Sean Spicer. Dina Powell, another $179,700-per-year Trump staffer, resigned recently in her role as deputy national security and has rejoined Goldman Sachs, where she worked before being hired by the White House.

Staffers making $179,700 annually who are still employed at the White House include Tom Bossert, Kellyanne Conway, and Stephen Miller. With the exception of 32-year-old senior policy advisor Miller, Hicks is at least a decade younger than all of these individuals.

An obscure White House office responsible for recruiting and vetting thousands of political appointees has suffered from inexperience and a shortage of staff, hobbling the Trump administration’s efforts to place qualified people in key posts across government, documents and interviews show.

At the same time, two office leaders have spotty records themselves: a college dropout with arrests for drunken driving and bad checks and a Marine Corps reservist with arrests for assault, disorderly conduct, fleeing an officer and underage drinking.

...
PPO leaders hosted happy hours last year in their offices that included beer, wine and snacks for dozens of PPO employees and White House liaisons who work in federal agencies, White House officials confirmed. In January, they played a drinking game in the office called “Icing” to celebrate the deputy director’s 30th birthday. Icing involves hiding a bottle of Smirnoff Ice, a flavored malt liquor, and demanding that the person who discovers it, in this case the deputy director, guzzle it.

"I see on your resume that you have a lot of experience in political circles in Washington, but it all ends in November, 2016. What happened after that?"

"Well, I, um... I , um... I took some time off to rehabilitate my crack addiction and spend more time developing my exclusive
scat porn site on the web."

(Long, relieved sigh) That's good. For a minute there, we thought you were working for the Trump campaign during that time.(Laughs)

The goal would be to charter a leaky freighter to haul their sorry asses from DC to a convenient Russian port — St Petersburg, Vladivostok or Novorossiysk...

From there, Putin could help them launch new careers. Cleaning toilets in the Moscow subway (after cleaning up Cadet Bone Spur’s messes), shoveling snow in Siberia (following their success in shoveling bullshit), maybe even joining an Internet troll-team, at least until they’re uncovered and locked out.

I’d pony up a few dollars just to get them off our soil!
