Trump asks judge to block feds from reviewing documents seized in Cohen raid

Source: The Hill

Lawyers for President Trump wrote a federal judge on Sunday asking her to halt federal prosecutors from reviewing documents seized in Michael Cohen’s office and home, arguing that the Department of Justice cannot fairly evaluate the materials.

A trio of lawyers for the president wrote to Judge Kimba Wood in the Southern District of New York to request Trump and Cohen be allowed to identify privileged communications prior to a fuller review.

Trump’s lawyers – Joanna Hendon, Christopher Dysard and Reed Keefe – wrote that potentially privileged information was seized during the raid. They argue that Trump should be able to review those documents before a taint team made up of federal agents and prosecutors to ensure his right to attorney-client privilege.

“The President, the public, and the government have a vital interest in ensuring the integrity of the privilege review process, and the taint team procedure is plainly inadequate to the task,” the lawyers wrote, according to a copy of the letter published by Talking Points Memo. “There is, as well, cause for concern that a taint team could not evaluate Mr. Cohen’s files (and, in particular, those relating to the president) fairly,” they continued, arguing that prosecutors would be disinclined to see certain communications as privileged.

Everyone is treating Trump "unfairly".

This maneuver tries to set up Trump and Cohen to decide what's privileged and what's not. THEY are not the FBI!

Trump must be absolutely terrified about something that's in those documents. We haven't seen this much resistance since his refusal to release his TAX RETURNS.

...to not allow the person under criminal investigation to singlehandedly decide which evidence the prosecutors are allowed to look at, right?

they're allowed to use as well. Trump's Lawyers (if you can honestly call them that) want to have 'discovery' over what Mueller gets to see and use. That's only fair, right?

Fucking paranoid asshats never stop projecting. Everyone who holds a mirror up to their faces is part of some left wing conspiracy.

Attn: right wing shitbags, traitors, and morons - no, the FBI is not full of secret democrats who want to burn trump for beating Hillary. Not everyone is as fucking cynical and morally bankrupt as you guys are.

Pretty feeble response to Feds memorandum. If that’s the best they can do, Trump needs better lawyers. Nobody is going to let Trump’s people see them first.

"Trump's lawyers" is kind of an oxymoron. Trump can't seem to hire any lawyers. Would be interesting to know who has relationships with these/this law firm and why. Deutsch Bank? Russian interests? Rotem Rosen/Lev Leviev? The RNC?

And he'll be in legal purgatory soon as his options dwindle. The information they have is probably already known to them if they've been watching Cohen, because many others are also probably being watched too. They know they're criminals , and are way ahead of anything they think they may have knowledge of. If he fires either Rod Rosenstein or Muller or Sessions just watch how long before the state indictments start flying out against them. He can't pardon state convictions. He'll try to corrupt that also.
